Blue Protocol to shut down in Japan on Jan 18th, 2025, global release plans cancelled

As a seasoned gamer with decades worth of experiences under my belt, I must confess that the cancellation of Blue Protocol has left me quite disheartened. This game had all the makings of an epic MMORPG adventure – stunning visuals, intriguing storyline, and immersive combat mechanics. It was like a beacon of hope in the vast sea of repetitive titles that have flooded the market.

Bandai Namco’s upcoming global release titled “Blue Protocol” has been officially scrapped. This decision was made public following the announcement by the Japanese version of Blue Protocol that they would be terminating their service and closing down on January 18, 2025.

Blue Protocol players had expressed concern about the quality of life updates

Blue Protocol was a project being developed by Bandai Namco Online and Bandai Namco Studios, published by Amazon Games. Initially set for launch in Japan on June 14, 2023, the developers later announced that they were shifting their release window to 2024, with plans for distribution on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5. A mobile release was not mentioned at the time of the announcement.

Consequently, since Amazon Games has closed down, none of the platforms will release Blue Protocol. The official statement shared their sentiments, stating, “We’ve had a fruitful partnership with Amazon Games during Blue Protocol’s development, and we share in the disappointment that we won’t be able to share the game with players worldwide.”

Blue Protocol was an exciting game with breathtaking graphics and captivating combat style. In this game, you traverse the beautiful landscape of Regnas. As you uncover secrets about your past, you’ll encounter new companions and be assigned the mission to prevent the planet’s ruin due to technological anomalies. You and your comrades must venture into an uncharted world in search of a solution.

Several gamers voiced their views on why they felt the game was taking too long to launch. Most raised concerns about its current state, suggesting that it’s lacking in quality of life updates and overall player feedback is negative. Additionally, a player from the Japan server pointed out that the expensive gacha system has lost favor with some users.

As a devoted fan, I must admit that I’ve been eagerly waiting for the possibility of Blue Protocol gracing our mobile devices ever since its shutdown. However, until another developer steps in and collaborates with Bandai Namco, it seems we’ll have to continue dreaming about this scenario. Interestingly enough, rumors emerged back in September 2023 suggesting that Tencent was discussing a potential mobile adaptation of the game with Bandai Namco, but the specifics are yet to be confirmed.
