Blue Note LA reveals opening calendar of acts including Robert Glasper, Charlie Puth and Killer Mike

Blue Note, the renowned jazz club from New York, unveiled on Tuesday the initial lineup of performances for their eagerly anticipated Los Angeles branch. This exciting roster features artists like Robert Glasper, Charlie Puth, and Killer Mike. Following setbacks due to construction and permit issues following the L.A. fires in January, the venue is now scheduled to debut in mid-August. Local favorite Robert Glasper will be the first to perform at the new location on August 14 and 15, officially inaugurating the venue.

Situated on Sunset Boulevard and Ivar Avenue in Hollywood, the well-known jazz establishment is planning to host an array of top-tier artists across various genres, including jazz. After Branford Marsalis’ two inaugural performances, Alex Isley will take center stage on August 16th and 17th, having been nominated for a Grammy.

In the initial month, the team responsible for Blue Note is making a concerted effort to thoroughly convey their philosophy and performance style to Los Angeles spectators, as they are determined to present it in an authentic manner.

Similar to the New York City’s Blue Note venue (which is part of a global chain with locations like Napa, Tokyo, and Honolulu), artists are scheduled for two performances each evening. Both Blue Note Entertainment President Steven Bensusan and Director of Programming/Talent Buyer Alex Kurland have emphasized that the L.A. location will maintain a local atmosphere, as evident in the acts they choose to book.

Among the initial performances will feature a diverse lineup of local artists. For instance, Terrace Martin will perform with Kenyon Dixon on August 19th and 20th. Braxton Cook is scheduled for September 9th and 10th. Kamasi Washington will take the stage from September 30th to October 5th and then again from October 7th to 12th. Keyon Harrold will perform on November 18th and 19th, with many other artists also scheduled.

For the remainder of the published schedule, extending to 2026, showcases an impressive lineup of jazz greats including Branford Marsalis on October 21st and 22nd, Esperanza Spalding from September 2nd to 7th, Ravi Coltrane from August 28th to 31st, Kenny Garrett from September 11th to 14th, Cimafunk on November 20th and 21st, and Lady Blackbird with multiple residency dates.

Furthermore, continuing with the spirit of Blue Note, a diverse range of artists across different genres are featured, including Charlie Puth (October 16 to 19), Andra Day (November 28 to 30), Killer Mike (September 19 to 21), Slum Village (October 20), Ben Folds (December 11), Mayer Hawthorne (August 25) and many more.
