News is circulating that Blue Lock BLAZE BATTLE is shutting down. BAEL Inc. has officially announced the game will no longer be available after March 31, 2026.

The team announced that, even with ongoing work to make the game better, they’ve decided it will be too challenging to keep providing a satisfying experience for players. They’ll share specific dates for the game’s shutdown and information about refunds through messages within the game itself.

The game first came out in March 2024 and was designed as an exciting soccer game based on the popular Blue Lock anime. Players can experience key scenes from the show, create their own teams with characters like Isagi, Nagi, and Bachira, and play fast-paced matches with 11 players on each side.

Those who enjoy the Blue Lock manga and anime especially loved the story moments and cutscenes. Unfortunately, players outside of Japan didn’t get a full chance to experience these features, which is a significant drawback for such a popular series.

The closure proves that even the biggest anime IPs struggle to find a home in gaming

Blue Lock is incredibly popular right now. The manga has a large number of chapters – over 300 – and the anime has become a massive hit, particularly with the recent Japan vs. Blue Lock storyline. With a live-action film also in production, the excitement around the series is strong and presents a great opportunity to capitalize on its success.

Given how popular this franchise is, you’d expect at least one amazing, well-made game that really brings its world to life worldwide. But so far, we’ve only seen games released in certain regions or titles that don’t quite live up to the hype of a truly great Blue Lock game.

While Blue Lock PWC exists, it doesn’t quite live up to its potential. It feels like a promising concept with all the right ingredients – well-developed characters, exciting soccer scenes, creative game ideas, and plenty of other appealing elements – but it doesn’t fully come together.

It’s frustrating to see another Blue Lock project end. As a longtime fan of both the manga and anime, I really think Blue Lock deserves a well-made video game with a worldwide release.
