Recently, the globally acclaimed tactical role-playing game “Blue Archive,” developed by Nexon, encountered an unexpected hack. This incident led to a temporary maintenance of the game’s servers. Rest assured, no player data or financial information was compromised during this event. In fact, Nexon has even extended some form of compensation to their community as a gesture of goodwill.
Blue Archive’s Koyukification and Nexon’s quick response to the incident
On August 31, an unexpected incident occurred on the global servers of the game, temporarily causing peculiar modifications. To everyone’s surprise, characters like Koyuki and Miku started dominating, with visual banners featuring 3D models, overflowing cafes displaying numerous variations, and even the information page echoing Koyuki’s distinctive laugh, “nihahahaha“.

Following the rapid spread of this issue across social platforms, I found myself eagerly awaiting Nexon’s response. True to form, they promptly implemented maintenance, which lasted a few hours before service was restored. Soon enough, everyone began referring to this event as the “Koyukification.” By September 1st, the company graciously shared their findings from the investigation into the incident.
In a subsequent message, Nexon clarified that the problem stemmed from modified settings leading to the IP address “45.94.31.77 (Netherlands)“, which was responsible for the issue. However, they assured everyone that this incident wasn’t harmful and was more playful in nature. They also reassured their players that their accounts, game data, and payment information remained secure.
Nexon strengthens security and offers compensation package for global players
Following the occurrence, Nexon admitted that the problem originated from external access and unapproved modifications to client settings kept on their Content Delivery Network. They clarified that “these environmental settings merely influenced the way client-side content was presented.
Greetings, it’s us, your friends at Blue Archive!
Apologies for any inconvenience you might have experienced during our emergency maintenance on August 31st. We noticed that some of our valued Senseis who purchased the Monthly or Half-Monthly Pyroxene Packages didn’t receive their login rewards as scheduled. To make it up to you, we’re planning to compensate for these missed rewards at an appropriate time!
Thank you for your understanding and patience. We’ll keep you updated on when the compensation will be distributed!
Best regards,
Blue Archive Team— BlueArchive (@EN_BlueArchive) September 3, 2025
In order to ensure this incident doesn’t recur, Nexon has fortified its security systems and restricted access only to authorized parties. The company is currently collaborating with the Korea Internet & Security Agency and has committed to implementing enhanced security measures, including penetration testing and bug bounty programs.
In an effort to make amends, they’re offering a unique compensation package filled with perks, available until September 8th. The bonuses consist of 10 Recruitment Tickets, 500 AP, 150 Tactical Challenge Coins, 7 Lesson Tickets, 300,000 Credit Points, and additional rewards. I must say, their swift resolution is quite commendable.
