As a seasoned gamer and storyteller of life experiences, I find myself captivated by the upcoming dramas on Disney+ and Channel 4 that delve into the tumultuous history of Northern Ireland during The Troubles. The upcoming series “Say Nothing” and “Trespasses” promise to be riveting tales of love, loyalty, and the complexities of a time when loose lips truly did cost lives.
Disney+ has announced a release date for Northern Irish drama Say Nothing starring Lola Petticrew.
The lead actor in “Bloodlands” portrays the true-life character of Dolours Price, a member of the Irish Republican Army (IRA). The narrative commences with the mysterious vanishing and brutal assassination of Jean McConville, a mother of ten, who was seized in 1972.
The nine-part series based on the book “Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland” written by Patrick Radden Keefe is set to debut on Disney+ in the UK on November 14.

Developed by Josh Zetumer, this series delves into the lives of individuals living in Belfast spanning over four turbulent decades known as The Troubles.
17-year-old actress Hazel Doupe, known for her role in the growing-up film “Float Like a Butterfly,” takes on the character of Marian Price. On the other hand, Maxine Peake, who has previously appeared in “Black Mirror,” portrays an older version of Dolours.
In the series “Masters of the Air,” actor Anthony Boyle takes on the character of military strategist Brendan Hughes, while Josh Finan is slated to portray Gerry Adams, a former leader of Sinn Féin who has consistently refused allegations of association with the Irish Republican Army.

Besides that, Petticrew is preparing to share the screen with Gillian Anderson from “Sex Education” in a new show centered around The Troubles.
Titled “Trespasses” and adapted from Louise Kennedy’s book, this 1975-set series tells the story of Cushla (Petticrew), a Catholic school teacher living in a town near Belfast who becomes romantically involved with Michael (Tom Cullen from “Weekend”), a Protestant man with IRA sympathies. Anderson plays the role of Cushla’s mother, Gina.
“Set in an environment where careless talk can be fatal and hidden threats abound, a tense atmosphere filled with apprehension and suspicion is present. Amidst this turmoil, an underground romance blossoms between Cushla and Michael, shining fiercely.”
Disney+ in the UK will begin streaming Say Nothing from November 14.Trespasses can be watched on Channel 4.
