Bloodbath at Channel Seven as three popular stars jump ship to Network 10 for new investigative show in the works

Three staff members at Channel Seven have jumped ship to rival Network 10.

Last week, it was reported by The Australian that Amelia Brace, a former award-winning foreign correspondent for Seven, as well as Bill Hogan, a reporter for 7News Sydney, and Denham Hitchcock, a producer-reporter for Spotlight, all decided to leave the network.

It is said that they will be part of the upcoming investigative program established by Martin White, head of Channel 10’s news division.

Brace and Hitchcock left Seven’s Sydney studio shortly after resigning, preparing to begin their new roles at Ten on Monday morning. Meanwhile, Hogan won’t join the network until three weeks from now.

It appears that Ten is said to have boosted Brace’s salary by an additional $50,000, taking her annual earnings to $270,000.

On Friday, she communicated to her colleagues: “I find it unusual not to have a designated ‘final day’ to bid farewell, but for the moment, it seems appropriate for me to gradually disappear.

“Take a firm stance for yourselves and for one another, and remember me whenever you need to locate a challenging case study.”

1. Stand up for yourselves, and each other -> Take a firm stance for yourselves and for one another
2. think of me every time you have to find a fking case study -> remember me whenever you need to locate a challenging case study (I replaced the expletive with “challenging” to keep it family-friendly, but you can also replace it with something like “difficult” or “tricky.”)
3. I kept the original structure of the sentence as much as possible while making sure that the meaning remains clear and easy to understand for readers.

Meanwhile, Hitchcock announced his return to work at Seven in an Instagram post back in February.

Since my departure from 7News Spotlight in 2022, I’ve chosen to embrace a unique lifestyle change by dwelling on a catamaran. Now, I’m thrilled to announce that my young family and I have found our new home in the vibrant city of Sydney.

He returned with a post that said, “I’m back! Now it’s time to rinse off some of that salt and get back to my specialty.

In 2019, I was tasked with launching what would eventually evolve into our flagship program, initially with just a producer and a cameraman. The initial, small-scale shows were successful, leading to a rapid expansion of the team. Over time, it grew into our network’s primary program.

After taking a break for several years to sail with my family, I’m back and discovering a brand-new extended play album, a revamped team, new journalists, a vibrant atmosphere, a wealth of tales, and genuine enthusiasm for the upcoming year.

He ended the message by asking followers and fans to send ‘research ideas’.

He cautioned, “Yet remember, let’s stick with well-researched suggestions rather than unfounded speculations,” and then mentioned, “Be sure to follow @7newsspotlight. It promises to be an exciting year ahead.

After the arrival of their second child in December, Hitchcock made a brief comeback to Seven.

In January 2022, he hit the news after he stepped down from the Seven Network to set sail on an adventure with his little family.

In May 2023, he made his comeback on screens, featuring in the true crime documentary titled ‘Who Solved Marea’s Murder?’ that delves into an unsolved 20-year-old mystery.

As a diligent follower, I took the helm under Alfred Hitchcock’s guidance during our in-depth probe into the enigmatic and gruesome murder of Marea Yann that occurred within the tranquil confines of rural Victoria back in 2003 for Sky News.
