Blizzard donates $1 million to support SoCal wildfire victims

Blizzard is giving $1 million to Direct Relief, to help affected communities recover from the wildfires in Southern California.

In simpler terms, the game developer famous for titles like Overwatch 2, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, among others, is contributing a generous sum of one million dollars towards assisting communities devastated by the wildfires in Southern California.

Blizzard donates $1 million to Direct Relief

Starting January 24th, wildfires persist in causing destruction across greater Los Angeles. To aid those impacted, Blizzard is contributing a million dollars to Direct Relief – an organization focusing on enhancing the health and wellbeing of individuals facing emergencies and poverty worldwide. This non-profit further supplies essential medical resources to communities within the U.S. and globally during crises.

Blizzard expressed that our sympathies stay with those impacted, not just in their urgent need for aid, but also throughout their long-term rebuilding process.

Blizzard has taken note of how the wildfires have affected their gaming community, and they’ve announced a charitable contribution to Direct Relief. This move will offer immediate and ongoing assistance to local healthcare facilities, those directly impacted, and emergency workers by providing essential aid.

Gamers and more unite to help victims of Los Angeles wildfires

Besides Blizzard, companies like Riot Games are also lending a helping hand to those impacted by the wildfires. For instance, Riot Games is organizing in-game charity events. Players of League of Legends and VALORANT can participate by purchasing special in-game items, with the earnings going towards the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. Later, this fund will distribute the funds to appropriate organizations.

In League of Legends, players can contribute by acquiring the Firefighter Tristana skin. Meanwhile, VALORANT players have the opportunity to obtain the EX.O Collection Give Back Bundle.

Besides their passion for gaming, enthusiasts of the TV show 9-1-1 and the pairing between Buck and Tommy, contributed to a GoFundMe initiative for the California Fire Foundation. This charitable organization provides aid to families of fallen firefighters, active firefighters themselves, and the communities they protect. The fundraising event was launched by Tumblr user bucktommypositivityproject.
