The actor best known for his role in The Blind Side was recently put on life support after a severe stroke and a fall at his house last month.
People were deeply worried about his health, with his colleague Sandra Bullock fearing the worst. Meanwhile, the woman everyone thought was his wife started a fundraising page to help cover his growing medical expenses.
Only now, with Quinton Aaron thankfully on the mend, the story has taken a series of wild twists.
The Daily Mail has learned that a bitter dispute has broken out between the family of Quinton and his partner, Margarita, 50. They are accusing each other of staging a fake marriage, and police are now looking into the reasons why Quinton was hospitalized.
His family has expressed concerns about several warning signs and worries that Margarita might access the $48,000 donated through his GoFundMe campaign. The campaign, created by Veterans Aid Network on January 24th – the day after his stroke – aimed to provide financial support.
Margarita insists she isn’t interested in the money. Both she and Quinton’s family have agreed that any funds will only be used to pay legitimate hospital expenses.
Forty-one-year-old Quinton, who acted alongside Sandra Bullock in the 2009 film The Blind Side, fell down the stairs in his Atlanta apartment after suddenly losing control of his legs.
Police in Cobb County are investigating the details surrounding the incident where he fell, according to both the police department and the lead detective on the case, as reported by the Daily Mail.
A Public Information Officer told the Daily Mail that authorities have looked into the incident and are currently treating it as suspicious. A detective has been assigned to investigate further, but because the investigation is ongoing, no other details can be released right now.
According to a police report from the Daily Mail, officers contacted Quinton’s brother, 38-year-old Jarred Aaron, at his home on January 31st after noticing something unusual.
Margarita confirmed to the Daily Mail that she knows about the investigation and has already spoken with detectives, providing her account of what happened.
According to a family source, there are different accounts from people who witnessed what happened before Quinton was hospitalized, and this has made some family members question Margarita’s version of events.
She claimed she spent seven days alone at the hospital, with only Jarred and Quinton’s uncle visiting a couple of times. However, a source close to the family says Margarita prevented other relatives from visiting, telling medical staff they weren’t allowed to see her husband and claiming to be his wife.
These concerns led the family to look into Margarita’s past, specifically whether her marriage to Quinton was legally valid.
The make-up artist told the Daily Mail she first connected with Quinton on TikTok in August 2023. They exchanged messages for a while and eventually met in person for the first time in June 2024.
She says they got married in December, six months after first becoming a couple. However, a source close to the family claims they’ve found evidence it wasn’t a legal marriage, but a spiritual ceremony. When asked for details, Margarita remained private, only mentioning they were married in a meaningful location.
When someone asked if she was married to Quinton, she explained that he calls her his ‘partner in crime’ and ‘his forever’.
She said Jarred attended the wedding, but a source close to the situation claimed no family members were present at the hastily arranged ceremony. Jarred himself told the Daily Mail he wasn’t there, stating, ‘There was never any wedding, and Margarita knows it.’
A spiritual wedding isn’t bound by traditional religious or legal requirements. Couples who want legal recognition of their marriage may also need to have a separate civil ceremony.
A letter from the family’s attorney, obtained by the Daily Mail, states that no marriage certificate for Quinton and Margarita has been found on record.
To add to the confusion, Quinton’s cousin, Asia, recently claimed that Margarita has been married to someone else for 34 years.
Margarita seemed to verify the reports, explaining to the Daily Mail that they are now resolving some outdated paperwork that should have been completed nearly three years ago.
She didn’t reveal her husband’s name, but explained that when she met Quinton, he was already aware of her history and what she’d been through. They were working on it together, and she believed things were resolved with her previous partner after being separated for over a year. Quinton had even told his brother, Jarred, that she was the person he wanted to be with.
She insisted that ‘there was nothing I kept a secret from [Quinton].’
She described their relationship, explaining that he’d often confided in her, asking how she could truly accept him as he was. She always responded by telling him he was beautiful, a compliment he’d never received before, especially considering his size – she affectionately called him her ‘big teddy bear.’
Margarita says she played a key role in helping Quinton improve his health. He was diagnosed with diabetes in 2021 and had experienced heart failure in 2020. She assisted him by tracking his blood sugar, cooking healthy meals, and encouraging daily walks. By October 2025, the actor, who previously weighed 575 pounds, had lost an impressive 200 pounds.
She explained they frequently visited various medical facilities that offered treatments for different aspects of his illness.
Margarita stated that Quinton had been hospitalized alone repeatedly before they met. She remembered a conversation where she asked about his brother, and he responded that no one ever came to visit him, despite him asking his brother to many times.
She expressed frustration that, despite numerous hospital visits and appointments she’d attended with him, this was the first time his family had been present. She felt it was particularly concerning that their support only appeared after a fundraising campaign was started.
It’s heartbreaking because if the GoFundMe hadn’t existed, his family likely wouldn’t be putting up such a strong fight.
He was seriously ill back in October. You probably didn’t see it in the news, though – I’ve never shared any details about Quinton’s health publicly.
She explained that his entire family lives nearby – within a 15-minute drive. They had been living there for six months, and during that time, his family hadn’t visited him even once.
She mentioned receiving messages from his friends and former co-stars, including Walter Emanuel Jones and Michael Beach from “War Dawgz,” and Dean Cain, who worked with him on “The Appearing.” They’ve all expressed worry about his well-being.
She described his friendship with Bullock, saying he often speaks about her and always defends her. She added that she hasn’t spoken to Bullock herself, but knows he emails her occasionally.
The main source of family conflict seems to be between Margarita and Jarred. Margarita says they lived with her and Quinton for nine months in an Airbnb she rented, and during that time, they frequently argued. Quinton apparently asked Jarred to move out because of these disagreements.
‘The brother will be homeless in a few days,’ she alleged.
Jarred did not provide additional comment to the Daily Mail at this time.
A source tells us Quinton is improving, and his family has observed him moving his eyes when they speak to him.
Margarita said that once he is conscious enough, the family drama ‘is really going to hurt him.’
Quinton had always been searching for someone to complete him, and I filled that role. I provided him with the support and assistance his family wouldn’t, helping him with everything he needed.
It’s difficult because this is the first time I’ve shared details of his health with his family. He’s always been very private and asked me to keep his medical information confidential, always fearing what they might think. He used to only ask them about medications or family health issues, keeping everything else to himself.
Now that my family has control and I’ve been excluded, I can’t provide the support Quinton needs anymore. They’ve removed his primary source of help.
