BLAST Slam II: Kuroky was right? Nigma Galaxy beats PARIVISION with the smartest drafts
Kuroky proved to be exactly the coach Nigma Galaxy required, and we’re thrilled about it! They clinched their first major victory at a LAN tournament by defeating PARIVISION.
To fully understand this story, it’s important to know a few things: Nigma Galaxy last clinched a Bo3 series in the Clavision Snow Ruyi tournament (August 2024) against NaVi. This tournament featured fewer top-tier teams compared to events like BLAST Slam II, and it offered half of BLAST Slam II’s million-dollar prize pool. Conversely, PARIVISION emerged victorious at ESL One Bangkok and finished in the Top 3 at the most recent FISSURE Playground #1.
From a gaming perspective, I’ve always been part of the Nigma fan base, cheering for a team that’s brimming with top-tier talent. Even though our last significant international win was just a Tier 2 tournament in 2020, the loyalty of the fans has remained unwavering. Now, with our legendary founder Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi stepping into the coaching role, it feels like we’re standing on the brink of a potential turnaround.
Why is Nigma Galaxy’s victory over PARIVISION at BLAST Slam II so important?
At BLAST Slam II, PARIVISION was among the most formidable squads, but they ultimately fell 2-1 to Nigma Galaxy. More recently, they’ve bolstered their lineup by recruiting Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov, who is currently the youngest carry in Eastern Europe. Prior to joining PARIVISION, Satanic was a member of Team Spirit, which afforded him the opportunity to learn under TI champions before making his move.
Nigma’s impressive play was surprising given that their star player, Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi, had to be replaced at the last minute. In his place, Daniel “Ghost” Chan stepped up, earning MVP honors in several matches and securing a spot in the quarterfinals following the Group Stage. He even managed to lead his team to a win against one of the top teams in this game’s current meta.
It’s widely believed that Ghost plays a significant role in Nigma’s impressive performance at the BLAST Slam II, as they not only defeated PARIVISION but also overcame Team Falcons and Xtreme Gaming during the Group Stage. The Dota 2 community, which has often been critical of them, is currently expressing a lot of positive sentiment towards Nigma.
As for their draft strategy, Nigma Galaxy has been impressing fans with innovative approaches, making Kuroky shine during the selection phase. In this best-of-three series, they skillfully utilized a hard-to-counter Magnus in SumaiL’s play, while simultaneously highlighting Ghost’s heroes. They didn’t flinch when facing PARIVISION’s effective Spirit Breaker and even managed to outplay it in the decisive game three.
Nigma Galaxy’s next steps on the BLAST Slam II
Next up in the tournament are two more dates, and Nigma Galaxy’s upcoming rival is none other than Tundra Esports. This will be their first encounter, and it’s being highly anticipated by the community as they are viewed as the ultimate challenge, having recently triumphed in the last FISSURE Playground tournament against Team Falcons with a nail-biting 3-2 win.
