Following PGL’s announcement, BLAST too revealed a tournament scheduled for January 2027, which coincidentally falls around the same time as PGL’s event. In 2027, teams will face a tough decision as they must pick between the two tournament organizers.

BLAST Open 2027 overlaps with PGL event

2027 is set to see another Counter-Strike tournament organized by BLAST, marking one of the earliest events in the year. Notably, this announcement coincides with a similar event reveal just a few hours prior, sharing some overlap in dates. The BLAST Bounty 2027 tournament will unfold from January 13th to the 24th, 2027.

Previously, it was revealed that the first Counter-Strike tournament of 2027 hosted by PGL would commence on January 13. The same date marks the beginning of multiple PGL Counter-Strike events. The tournament will conclude on January 25, 2027. Furthermore, PGL has announced a series of other events scheduled for locations such as Astana and Bucharest, among others, throughout the year.

This change signifies a major difference compared to this year, as tournament organizers have mostly collaborated to prevent scheduling conflicts. Notably, the number of organizers in the Counter-Strike arena was quite restricted. Primarily, BLAST, PGL, and ESL have maintained a substantial circuit this year, and for several years. Perfect World organized the Shanghai Major, but they’ve largely stayed away from international LAN events since then.

As organizers like StarLadder and PGL introduce multiple tournaments annually, the scene is becoming increasingly congested. Unfortunately, these organizers couldn’t reach a consensus, leading to a notable scheduling conflict at one of the top-tier events slated for 2027. With additional events still on the horizon, Counter-Strike enthusiasts should prepare for more such scheduling conflicts, but with more events comes an even more thrilling time for fans.
