Blake Shelton hits back at angry critics following backlash over his and Gwen Stefani’s pre-taped AMAs performance after fans claimed they were ‘lied to’

Blake Shelton responded to the criticism he faced following the prematurely aired AMAs performance with his wife, Gwen Stefani, on Wednesday.

Audience members were enraged when they found out that the performance by the couple during the American Music Awards was not live but had been recorded in advance, before the show aired on Monday night.

A TikTok user, seemingly present at the awards ceremony, claimed that they had been given misleading information when they recorded Gwen and Blake’s performances on a screen positioned up in the balcony.

I, as a dedicated follower, am thrilled to share that Blake has finally addressed the recent uproar on social media platforms like X. He clarified the rumors about Gwen and him pretaping their performances for the AMA’s by stating: ‘Wow, just now catching wind of these stories about Gwen and me pretaping our AMA’s performances. Let me set the record straight!’

‘We came and performed when the show asked us to.. Really nothing else to say.’

Why on earth could someone claim they’re performing live if they’re not even present? It’s so misleading… #GwenStefani #AMA #LiveTV #DisappointMe #TaylorSwift

Videos shared on social platforms sparked more excitement among fans when they discovered later that the performances were not happening in real-time, and this crucial detail was not made clear to the audience initially.

In the video, the stage at Fontainebleau was shown, however, it was dimly lit. Instead, a performance by the 55-year-old No Doubt singer from another location was displayed on a massive screen situated behind the actual stage.

On stage, it seemed like people were moving rhythmically, almost as if they were dancing. However, instead of participating in a performance, they were facing the screen, focusing on the video that was playing.

During her performance, it seemed as if some crew members were preparing the stage for the following act.

At the end of the video, the TikToker remarked, “She’s not here,” before swiveling the camera to face herself among the spectators.

To celebrate the 20-year milestone of my iconic 2004 album “Love. Angel. Music. Baby.”, I took the stage for an unforgettable medley of some of its most beloved tracks. The audience was treated to a nostalgic trip down memory lane with hits like “Hollaback Girl,” “What You Waiting For?”, and “Rich Girl.” As a lifestyle expert, it’s always a pleasure to share timeless moments like these that bring joy to people.

In a somewhat puzzling turn of events, it seemed as if Blake wore the same attire both on the red carpet and during his performance at the AMAs, indicating that he might have shown up quite close to the start of the event.

As a devoted fan, I stumbled upon another clip shared by the same TikTok user, featuring a pre-prepared performance by the 48-year-old country music sensation. He showcased his hit single “Stay Country Or Die Tryin’.

Last night at the AMAs, nothing could prepare me for the moment they announced, “Here comes Blake Shelton Live!” It felt surreal as if the lights transforming that stage were inviting him into our living rooms, all without a whisper of it being pre-recorded. Simply mind-blowing!

Later on, carrying out the same action with Gwen Stefani! The original poster expressed frustration as they typed this caption over the video.

‘I felt like I was in a simulation looking around for him!’

One commenter joked, ‘LOL even the performers didn’t show up.’

‘Gwen Stefani performing live! … somewhere else!’ another user joked.
