Blake Lively’s Shocking Apology: Did Ryan Reynolds Rewrite Iconic Scene?
Blake Lively issued a heartfelt apology to Christy Hall, the screenwriter of “It Ends With Us,” when she erroneously attributed a famous scene in the movie to her husband, Ryan Reynolds.
On Tuesday, the actress, aged 37, modified her initial court case by adding a new email exchange between herself and Justin Baldoni, her co-star and the movie’s director (aged 41), to her original lawsuit. This revised complaint now includes an email allegedly sent by Lively to Hall.
In the recently released papers, Lively explained what she perceived as a ‘defamatory strategy’ initiated by Baldoni and his associates. She also responded to backlash over her disclosure, during a red carpet conversation, of Reynolds’ unapproved rewrite of the ‘rooftop scene’, without the screenwriter being aware.
In the email, the author expressed her deep embarrassment and discomfort after it was revealed that Hall was unexpectedly asked about the rumored revision. She conveyed feelings of regret and unease.
When Hall initially heard the assertion, she was puzzled, as it had not occurred to her that the actor from Deadpool had a hand in the script’s dialogue.
In the email, Lively expressed remorse, saying, “I found out that you were cornered during your event and asked about something I mentioned at the red carpet. I can’t help but feel terrible about it.

‘I would never have said anything that I thought could be used against you or anyone else. I was simply expressing my pride in my partner for the ways he supports me, and my gratitude towards him. It’s possible to believe in both of these things at once. In this situation, he has shown up for me, and he does great work, but so do you, as your efforts also brought us here.’
she added, “However, the media tends to oversimplify matters, making them seem more cut-and-dried. I realize now that I should have been more cautious with my off-the-cuff comments.
In that particular instance, I found myself overwhelmed by several factors, some of which you might be familiar with, others not. However, in that specific moment, what mattered most to me was love and optimism. And my family has always been the primary source of those feelings for me. As a result, discussing him helped provide support during that time.
I’m deeply embarrassed by how that turned out concerning you. I take great care to be considerate and avoid causing offense. Unfortunately, I failed in this instance. It was a preventable mistake, almost like scoring an own goal in sports. I’m truly sorry if it caused any distress or discomfort for you, or left you feeling uncomfortable in any way. That was never my intention.
While discussing the impact of authentic romance on screen, I realized I should have shared my feelings for real-life love with you all during my public talks. I regret not doing so. I apologize.
Vivacious continued by explaining that she often discussed Hall during numerous media events (junkets), however, the conversation typically circulated around her acknowledging her spouse’s behind-the-scenes efforts on this film.
Later on, Livvy openly thanked Reynolds, saying, “I truly couldn’t have made it through the movie without him. He was instrumental in every aspect.
However, she noted, ‘That’s not your bag to carry.’
She concluded her email by expressing her hope for a future conversation and meeting with the other person, saying something like “Let’s chat again soon” and “See you around.

She concluded by saying, ‘Today is a day of congratulations, joy, and also an apology if I unintentionally spoiled a lovely occasion.’
I, as a devoted follower, wish to share that Ms. Hall humbly received the sincere apology extended by Ms. Lively and made it clear that her remark was not taken on a personal level.
Back in August, Lively claimed Reynolds secretly contributed to the dialogue in the film.
She boasted about the actor’s involvement in penning the memorable rooftop sequence, an detail that, surprisingly, the original movie scriptwriter didn’t know.
At the New York City premiere, when speaking with E! News, Blake, the lead actor and producer, revealed something interesting: ‘It was actually my husband who wrote it. That secret’s been kept until now, only you know.’
The actress stated, ‘We assist one another. Whatever I accomplish, he contributes to it, and vice versa. Therefore, his victories and triumphs are equally my own, and the same goes for my achievements.’
In the meantime, Hall seemed puzzled by the assertion and admitted she hadn’t recognized Reynolds’ accomplishments.
She shared with People that there were a few minor details in the scene which seemed to be spontaneous. This particular scene occurs early in the movie, featuring characters Lily Bloom (Blake) and Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni), who engage in a playful exchange on a rooftop.
Christy mentioned that it’s similar to him saying, “Could you pretty-please do this, with an extra sweet cherry on top?” and her discussing maraschino cherries.

As a connoisseur of style, when I came across an unintentional slice, I found myself appreciating its spontaneous charm, remarking to myself, “What a charming impromptu creation!” If someone tells me that Ryan was the one who penned this sentiment, then bravo, what a delightful expression it is!
She acknowledged some minor additional elements in the scene that weren’t part of her original script, but assumed they were spontaneous improvisations during filming. However, she appreciated the key moments she felt were important had been included. As a result, she recognized and was proud of the final product. If those extra touches were by Ryan, she considered it fantastic.
It Ends With Us is based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel published in 2016.
Christy mentioned that the rooftop scene posed a considerable challenge due to its perfection in the original novel.
She clarified that her initial approach for the scene was to stay as faithful as possible to what Colleen had written, using very similar words.
“I put a lot of effort into it as I believe she performed it exceptionally well. The challenging aspect of that scene lies in its length.
Moreover, Hall disclosed another spontaneous instance, particularly during a scene involving Lively and fellow actor Brandon Sklenar, portraying Atlas, where the actions were not strictly scripted.
When Atlas asked, “Which song should play at your funeral?”, and the answer was “With Arms Wide Open” by Creed, it made me roll on the floor laughing initially, since I thought it was an off-the-cuff remark – perhaps Ryan Reynolds himself came up with those lines! She quipped this as a joke.

She expressed interest in learning the origin of that specific scene since it was one of her favorites. It seemed like just what was required at that moment – a burst of lightness, a chuckle, and indeed, we all shared that laughter then.
In the revised lawsuit, Lively described Baldoni as an ‘uncomfortable’ individual when discussing his surprising on-set actions in a private message to a shared friend.
The records indicate that Lively claims Baldoni, whose legal representative has criticized the recent submission, is said to have inquired about her and Ryan’s intimate relationship during filming, allegedly in a manner considered as intrusive.
Vigorously asserts that the director-actor tried to convince her to simulate an orgasm on screen during a particular scene.
According to reports, the two actors initially agreed to remove the scene, but director Baldoni made a final effort to include a scene where the characters climax as a couple.
In simpler terms, the complaint stated that Baldoni was said to have emphasized to Lively the importance of retaining a particular scene where their characters reach climax at the same time during intimate moments.
The legal document further mentions that Mr. Baldoni inappropriately questioned Ms. Lively about whether she and her spouse reach climax at the same time during intimate moments, a query that Ms. Lively considered intrusive and declined to address.

In addition, she asserts that two more actresses from the movie “It Ends With Us” are planning to present proof corroborating her accusations.
Meanwhile, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, has fired back at Lively’s lawsuit amendment.
The lawyer maintains that there appears to be no fresh proof provided in the submission, and he thinks nothing detrimental to his client was included.
According to TMZ’s report on Wednesday, the attorney for the U.S. actor-director stated that the lawsuit contains vague, unverified statements from unknown individuals who seem unwilling to corroborate or make their allegations publicly.
Furthermore, Freedman stated that his clients, such as Baldoni, their publicists, and Wayfarer Studios, have consistently been open about providing invoices, current records, and videos that portray a narrative distinct from the one that has been edited and selectively presented to the media.
According to a source from DailyMail.com, these allegations are being challenged because it’s claimed that Blake is grasping for irrelevant evidence. Originally reported as having strong proof, it appears she actually lacks any substantial evidence. The revised complaint she filed seems unfounded.
To put it simply, it’s clear that Justin didn’t make any inappropriate advances towards other women on set. Not a single Human Resources complaint was filed against him, not even by Blake herself. If there had been any instances of harassment, it would be HR who would have been informed first.
It appears that it would be challenging for any woman to validate Blake’s allegations by going public with her story, as there seems to be no supporting evidence, such as text messages, emails, or social media communications, in the updated lawsuit. On the other hand, Justin has tangible proof and factual evidence to defend himself, which currently seems absent on Blake’s side.
Previously, Blake had submitted a sexual harassment complaint against Justin in December, who was both her co-actor and director in the popular romantic drama “It Ends With Us.

Justin took further action by filing a defamation lawsuit for approximately $400 million against Blake, her representative, and her spouse, Ryan.
Moreover, he additionally initiated a lawsuit worth $250 million for defamation, specifically targeting The New York Times due to their coverage of Blake’s accusations.
But despite the high-stakes legal battle, it seems neither side plans to back down any time soon.
In the previous month, a court date was set for the trials involving multiple lawsuits, slated for March 2026. Both parties have opted against any mediation efforts prior to this trial.
