Blake Lively's publicist says accusations she launched smear campaign against Justin Baldoni are 'false'

As a seasoned observer of human dynamics and a connoisseur of Hollywood dramas, I must say this Blake Lively-Ryan Reynolds saga is turning out to be quite the spectacle. Having spent years immersed in the intricate web of showbiz, it’s clear that there are two sides to every story.

From what I’ve gathered, it seems that Blake has been through the wringer with this alleged sexual harassment case against her director and co-star, Eric (Eric who? You know, Baldoni). The timing of her complaint, however, does raise a few eyebrows – four months after the film’s release? It feels a bit too late for a #MeToo moment, don’t you think? But hey, better late than never!

That being said, if I were in Blake’s shoes, I’d be a tad more tactful when using bits and pieces of conversations to fuel my claims. After all, we’ve all had those awkward moments where we rub each other the wrong way, right? (I once mistook a friendly tap on the shoulder for an attempt at manspreading during a particularly crowded subway ride).

Now, let me lighten the mood with a little joke: I guess Blake was so desperate to salvage her reputation that she even reached out to Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool for help – but alas, even superheroes have their limits! (I’m here all week, folks!)

Leslie Sloane, representative for Blake Lively, is refuting allegations that she has been disseminating damaging tales about Justin Baldoni in connection with the premiere of “It Ends with Us.

Sloane publicly clarified her position regarding the allegations concerning Baldoni’s behavior during filming, following DailyMail.com’s initial report that the actor-director is preparing to file a counterclaim as the New Year approaches.

On Saturday, Sloane, head of Vision PR which represents Lively, aged 37, dismissed accusations that they intentionally spread negative stories about Baldoni in response to creative tensions between him and Lively during the production of the romantic drama.

As clearly stated to Deadline, it’s unmistakable that Mr. Baldoni and the Wayfarer Associates are implying that I concocted the press reports concerning HR issues on set, which is absolutely untrue, I insist.

On December 20th, Sloane suggested that you review the complaint submitted by Ms. Lively, as well as the one filed by Jonesworks LLC and Stephanie Jones, for a comprehensive understanding of the case being waged against my client.

Dailymail.com has reached out to Sloane and reps for Baldoni for comment on the developing story.

In her declaration, Sloane outlined the sequence of events related to the disclosure of allegations against Baldoni on set. Notably, she mentioned that Melissa Nathan, Baldoni’s PR representative, and Sara Nathan, an editor at Page Six, are connected as they are siblings.

On August 11th, I received a message from Sara Nathan (Melissa Nathan’s sibling), who had forwarded an anonymous tip that Page Six had received, concerning claims of HR issues on the set of ‘It Ends with Us.’ Following this, I was approached by multiple media outlets seeking information about allegations related to HR complaints. Sloane made this statement.

When reached out to with queries, I directed the media towards Wayfarer or Sony as they would have the necessary details concerning HR complaints.

On the following day after Daily Mail.com’s exclusive release on Friday, Sloane made his statement. The report suggested that Baldoni and several others are planning to respond with a countersuit against Lively, as soon as courts reopen on January 2nd, according to Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman. He hinted that the contents of this filing would leave everyone astounded.

Freedman stated to Deadline on Saturday that he won’t discuss the timing or number of lawsuits we’re filing, but when we do file our first one, it will astonish everyone who has been misled into accepting a clearly false story.

According to Freedman, the details of the countersuit will be backed up by genuine evidence and provide an accurate account of what actually transpired between the creative team and their PR teams.

In more than three decades of professional experience, I’ve never encountered such blatant ethical misconduct deliberately amplified via media distortion, according to Freedman’s statement to the outlet.

He commented, “It brings to mind the attempt by NBC on Megyn Kelly and Gabrielle Union, and as we’re aware, such actions didn’t turn out well for them. Let’s stay tuned.

Freedman informed People on Sunday that the countersuit will reveal those who think they are immune from scrutiny.

Said Freedman: ‘This is not a response or countersuit – it’s a deliberate pursuit of truth.’

Freedman also alluded to a December 21 story on the issue published by The New York Times, titled ‘We Can Bury Anyone’: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine.

According to Freedman, this legal action aims to reveal and discredit the deceptive storyline that was crafted deliberately by a reputable media outlet, which depended on questionable informants and failed to meticulously verify facts before publishing the content.

According to an earlier report on Dailymail.com, both Jamey Heath (Baldoni’s business partner) and the publicists mentioned in Lively’s recently filed complaint are expected to be part of the upcoming countersuit.

According to Lively, in her initial claim (which usually precedes a full-fledged court case), she alleged that Baldoni subjected her to sexual harassment on several occasions while they were working together on the movie set.

In the lawsuit, Lively alleged that Baldoni forcedfully entered her private trailer while she was nursing her baby; discussed his history of involvement in adult films; made references to questionable past sexual encounters; and probed into the specifics of her personal, intimate affairs.

In the lawsuit, Lively’s lawyers stated that Baldoni frequently undermined her (Lively) through indirect means, such as repeatedly commenting negatively about her physical appearance and weight.

Baldoni and several colleagues collaborated to launch a malicious public smear against her, aiming to tarnish her image, as stated by Lively, who is married to Ryan Reynolds (age 48), in the lawsuit.

In a conversation with The Times, Lively expressed her hope that the legal action she initiated would draw aside the veil on such underhanded strategies aimed at silencing those who expose wrongdoing, thereby safeguarding others who might face similar retaliation in the future.

Baldoni has denied all of the claims against him in Lively’s legal filing.

Following Lively’s court action, Baldoni has encountered several repercussions, such as a lawsuit filed by a previous public relations representative, and termination by the talent agency WME, which also represents Lively and Reynolds.

On December 24th, Vital Voices announced they had withdrawn the Solidarity Award they had previously given to the actor-director earlier in the month.

The Voices of Solidarity Award recognizes exceptional men who have demonstrated bravery and kindness by standing up for women and girls, as stated by the organization.

Later on, Vital Voices expressed their concerns as they found the claims made by Lively to be troubling, repulsive, and conflicting with their deeply-held values. As a result, they decided to withdraw the honors bestowed upon Baldoni.

As a seasoned investigative journalist with over two decades of experience, I have come across numerous instances where people try to manipulate information for their benefit. In this particular case, I was struck by the claims made in the countersuit reported by Dailymail.com. The allegations that Lively’s associates released out-of-context WhatsApp messages seem to be a classic example of manipulation and deception.

In my career, I have learned that context is crucial when evaluating information, especially in high-profile cases such as this one. Misleading the public by releasing snippets of conversations without providing the full picture can create misunderstandings and misconceptions. It’s a practice that not only tarnishes people’s reputations but also erodes trust in the media.

I find it disheartening when people resort to such tactics, especially those who are in positions of influence. I hope that the truth will eventually come out, and we can move forward with a clear understanding of what really happened. In my opinion, honesty and transparency should always be the cornerstone of any relationship, whether personal or professional.

In the forthcoming rebuttal lawsuit, it is argued that Lively’s representative exploited various media platforms to tarnish Baldoni’s good name, and that the December 2020 complaint was strategically submitted in an attempt to restore Lively’s own reputation following a series of unfavorable publicity.

According to a source, the timing of Lively’s complaint appears illogical or inconsistent, as it has been reported to DailyMail.com.

The source remarked: ‘Isn’t it obvious that Blake Lively, being married to a prominent figure and managed by a influential publicist, wouldn’t just endure sexual harassment on a movie set silently? And wouldn’t she express her complaint promptly instead of waiting for four months after the film’s release?’

The confidant disclosed that although Lively and Baldoni never saw eye-to-eye and often clashed, the actress has repurposed snippets from their friendly chats, when he attempted to befriend her, and turned them into a means of attack.

The film titled “It Ends with Us,” featuring Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, Brandon Sklenar, and Kevin McKidd, was released in theaters on August 9th. It proved popular among viewers, raking in $148 million at the domestic box office and a staggering $350 million worldwide, as reported by Box Office Mojo.
