Blake Lively’s lawyers claim Justin Baldoni’s legal team behaved unprofessionally while gathering evidence for their lawsuit, and they’ve requested a federal judge to intervene.
In a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman on December 19th, Lively’s attorneys requested penalties against Baldoni’s legal team, claiming they repeatedly behaved improperly during depositions.
According to documents reviewed by People magazine, the actress claims the opposing lawyer asked her personal questions about her past relationships and acted in a way her legal team considered unprofessional and unrelated to the current lawsuit.
As a longtime follower of this case, I’ve been reading the filings closely, and it’s really concerning to see what Lively’s legal team is alleging. They’ve presented evidence suggesting Baldoni’s lawyers weren’t conducting themselves professionally during witness questioning. Apparently, they constantly interrupted, made objections just to talk, and, even worse, reportedly treated some of the witnesses disrespectfully – all of which was documented. It paints a pretty negative picture of how those depositions were handled.
As a close follower of this case, I’ve noticed a pattern during the discovery phase. It seems like the opposing lawyers repeatedly interrupted proceedings with overly dramatic objections, even when they weren’t directly involved in the deposition. It felt like they were intentionally trying to waste time and make grand statements, rather than focusing on getting to the truth.
The attorneys say they previously warned Baldoni’s legal team to stop.

According to a letter from September 29th included in court filings, Lively’s attorneys protested what they called improper and unprofessional questioning. They specifically objected to questions about Lively’s past relationships or sexual history.
The lawyers stated that Ms. Lively’s personal relationships are irrelevant to this case and they will not allow questioning about them.
The legal document claims that questions about this topic are not allowed and are legally prohibited, referencing laws – often called ‘rape shield’ laws – that prevent the introduction of a person’s past sexual behavior during trials.
Besides seeking penalties, Lively’s lawyers are requesting the court allow them to question one of Baldoni’s expert witnesses again under oath.
They claim the first meeting didn’t go as planned because Baldoni’s lawyers supposedly interfered, caused delays, and made it difficult to get a fair review.
The motion also seeks reimbursement for fees tied to the supplemental deposition.
The case is currently scheduled to go to trial on May 18, 2026.
Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for both Lively and Baldoni for comment.

Last December, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment, unfair retaliation, and causing intentional emotional distress.
The actress filed a lawsuit claiming that Baldoni sexually harassed her, made demeaning comments about her appearance, and tried to ruin her career by spreading false information about her.
In her legal complaint, Lively identified several people who worked with Baldoni, including his production company Wayfarer Studios, its CEO and primary investor, and publicists Nathan and Abel.
Baldoni first sought $250 million from The New York Times due to a report they published. He then combined this claim with a $400 million lawsuit he’d already filed in January.
Baldoni filed a lawsuit naming Blake Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and Lively’s publicist, Leslie Sloane, referencing the previously mentioned report. However, the case was dismissed in June.
All parties have denied all of the allegations against them.
