Blake Lively’s Hat Controversy: Did She Steal the Spotlight in Her New Movie?
Spectators believe that Blake Lively might be responsible for the extravagant hat seen in her latest film, following allegations suggesting she seized control over the wardrobe in “The Fault in Our Stars.
Amidst the whirlwind of allegations and rebuttals in the ongoing court case involving Rachel Lively and her It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni, one such claim is that Lively took charge of the film’s production, especially concerning her wardrobe choices.
Initially during filming, it’s reported that she insisted on a complete overhaul of her clothing, which is believed to have significantly increased the costume budget, allegedly reaching an impressive $600,000.
Currently, under the shadow of her disagreement with Baldoni, Lively’s latest film, Another Simple Favor (a sequel to her 2018 hit crime comedy A Simple Favor), has been unveiled.
Or,
Amidst her ongoing dispute with Baldoni, Lively has recently premiered her new movie, the sequel to her 2018 hit crime comedy, Another Simple Favor.
Both sentences convey the same information but in different ways, making them suitable for various contexts and writing styles.
A well-known scene from the film featuring Lively donning a lavish, over-the-top wide-brimmed hat has gained significant attention online. This moment is shared alongside Lively’s co-star Anna Kendrick, who there were reports of tension between them off-camera.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “A viewer on TikTok suspected correctly that I played a role in choosing the hat you saw, and they were right! Back in March, I shared that I personally picked out this stylish accessory from a store in Italy.
One TikToker humorously requested, “I’m looking for a Saturday Night Live sketch where the hat continuously expands,” while another playfully commented, “The ‘Jesus’ character portrayed by Anna Kendrick in that song was actually off-script.
A bystander remarked, “She yearns for a classic Grace Kelly Hollywood scene,” while another quipped, “Four crew members went hungry due to that hat.” A third reacted in disbelief, “Is this actually real and not satire?
One viewer exclaimed, “Imagine working with Anna Kendrick on this film! It’s mind-blowing!” They also added, “There’s no question that the expressions she shows are incredibly genuine!
As I graced the stage at the South By Southwest Film Festival in March, I proudly premiered my latest project. During our filming in the picturesque town of Capri for Another Simple Favor, I stumbled upon a charming shop called Fiore. It was there that I discovered my new favorite sunhat – a find I’m eager to share with all of you as a lifestyle enthusiast!
In a lively manner, she remarked to the crowd, “That striking, attractive hat you see is nothing more than one you can purchase at the shop. Incredible, isn’t it? People actually buy it!
At the same event, filmmaker Paul Feig praised Amber Lively for her addition of a large, striking sunhat to the character’s wardrobe.
She returned and commented: “I’ve just purchased a hat. Could we possibly use it in the film?” He responded confidently, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter: “Absolutely, that’s definitely going into the movie. You must be joking!
‘My preferred aspect is her street navigation with it. In one scene, she walks past the camera and raises it to reveal her face. This leaves me thinking: “You truly embody a film star.”‘

This week, as the sunhat from the movie became a sensation on TikTok, Renée Ehrlich Kalfus, the costume designer, revealed that Blake Lively discovered the hat she wore in the film, having already considered several other alternatives first.
According to Kalfus, we possessed smaller hats, and surprisingly enough, she discovered that oversized one hidden in the far corner of a minuscule spot, the enormous hat, as he shared with People.
Those instances could be seen as fortunate surprises that often occur. Keeping an adaptable mindset and maintaining openness can lead to seizing such opportunities when they present themselves. Why not give it a try?
As a lifestyle expert, I found myself caught in the buzz surrounding the recent controversy that arose when Baldoni accused Lively of disregarding the director’s vision for her character and disrespecting the hard work and creativity invested by the wardrobe team. The center of the storm was sparked when it was revealed that Lively sent numerous images to the costume designer, showcasing the specific style she desired for her character’s wardrobe, seemingly overriding the original plan.
According to court documents, the costume designer was required to replace Blake Lively’s outfits multiple times, which went beyond the budgeted amount and took away from the time and resources needed. Additionally, the designer was tasked with preparing costumes for the rest of the cast.
Apart from what’s already known, she allegedly aimed to splurge $5,000 on shoes as a symbol of wealth, even though she was just starting out with a small business. This extravagant plan led Baldoni to significantly revise an entire script that had been under development for years.
On April 25, 2023, a notice from our Film’s Line Producer states that the Wardrobe department has a budget of $185,000 for expenses.
Typically, the wardrobe budget exceeds its limit, resulting in numerous returns that eventually bring it back within the budget. Our wardrobe team informed me that they expect to spend approximately $500,000 initially, but after accounting for returns, the final figure should be around $185,000.

So far, they’ve already used up $615K and now require refills on their cash cards since they’ve been purchasing items exclusively for Justin and Blake.
‘They had to reshop everything for Blake after creative changes but it’s a lot of money.
I have faith in them, no doubt, but I want to make sure everyone remains informed because this wardrobe expense has surpassed our original budget significantly more than I’ve experienced before.
Currently, it’s necessary to refill their cards as they haven’t made purchases for other characters yet. I wanted to keep everyone informed about the situation.
Over the holiday season, I found myself embroiled in a difficult legal situation. Just days before Christmas, I, at 37 years old, took the step to file a lawsuit against my co-star from “It Ends With Us,” Richard Baldoni, who is also 41. The lawsuit alleged sexual harassment, an accusation he firmly denied.
Simultaneously, a news report by The New York Times emerged, stemming from Lively’s court documents, which alleged that he had masterminded a smear campaign aimed at her through the media.
As an ardent admirer, let me share this tale from my perspective: I’ve found myself embroiled in a legal tussle, filing a defamation suit against The Times due to alleged character assassination. In addition, I’ve taken the bold step of launching a hefty $400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. My accusations? She misused her celebrity clout to sabotage my film and potentially derail my career. However, both The Times and Ms. Lively have flatly denied these charges.
Currently, explosive court records reveal that Blake took significant steps to assert control over her costumes – a decision made against the original preferences of director Justin, Sony, and Wayfarer regarding the character’s attire.

Typically, the main actors have the authority to decide on the basic appearance of their characters, but they don’t usually get complete control over it.
The evidence indicates that Blake’s bold fashion statements may have caught Justin off guard, potentially overshadowing his plans for her character. This could have nullified the weeks of meticulous work done by the costume team in selecting and creating outfits specifically suited to her role, which had been prepared well ahead of time.
According to the legal papers, Blake was frequently sending numerous pictures at night to the movie’s costume designer.
The costume designer for the movie found it necessary to completely revamp Blake’s clothing selection, which significantly surpassed the budget, time constraints, and available resources.
According to the legal documents, it is stated that Blake frequently declined participation in wardrobe fittings, which were held at an office near her Manhattan residence and reportedly insisted on having the clothing sent to her place instead, resulting in significant additional costs.
As a lifestyle advisor, I’d rephrase it like this: In an attempt to keep peace and prevent additional setbacks, Justin and the studio chose to hand over creative control regarding my wardrobe choices to Blake. However, looking back, this decision turned out to be something I deeply regret.
2023, on May 15th during filming, photos of Blake in her fresh outfits taken by paparazzi were released. However, these images were generally perceived as not flattering and apparently caused some negative response from Sony.
According to the lawsuit, Justin was directly criticized by Sony for raising significant worries about how the photos might affect the movie’s public response.
It’s said that Justin allegedly visited Blake in her trailer when she was with her crew, to talk about alterations needed in her outfits, reinforce his position as director, and convince her to allow him control over the costumes of her character.
