Blake Lively initially won a legal battle, but a New York judge reversed that decision on Wednesday, resulting in a new loss for the actress.
Shortly after a judge dismissed Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times, Lively faced another unfavorable legal decision.
Since December 2024, Lively and Baldoni have been involved in a heated legal battle. The actress from ‘It Ends With Us’ accused her co-star and director of sexual harassment, allegations he consistently denies. They still have the option to appeal the judge’s recent decision.
Let me tell you, when those accusations against Blake Lively surfaced, things got messy quickly. Her alleged harassment claims sparked a real legal battle. The chef, Baldoni, didn’t stay silent. He actually sued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and even The New York Times, claiming the paper’s reporting was completely unfair and damaging to his reputation. It was a full-on counterattack, and a really public one at that.
Okay, so the situation with Baldoni is still tricky. While some of the initial pushback against the accusations has faded, he’s still dealing with Lively’s sexual harassment case, and it’s actually scheduled to go to trial in March. It’s a tough spot, and he’ll definitely need to prepare carefully.
As a big fan of Blake Lively, I was really disappointed to hear that her lawsuit took a hit yesterday. The judge dismissed her claims against Jed Wallace, who she believed helped spread negative rumors online about her movie during its release. It’s a setback, as she felt he was part of a coordinated effort to damage her reputation, but unfortunately, the court didn’t agree with that claim.

The judge decided the lawyers didn’t prove Wallace, who lives in Austin, Texas, had strong enough connections to New York for the lawsuit to be filed there.
Lively claimed that Baldoni’s team used Wallace to organize an online group that spread negative and damaging information about her on social media.
Judge Liman had initially dismissed the claims, but allowed the legal team to revise their case if they could demonstrate Wallace’s connection to New York.
Ultimately, Judge Liman decided Lively didn’t make a strong enough case, but he indicated she could still take legal action against Wallace in Texas.
According to a spokesperson, the court decided Ms. Lively’s case should be handled in another court.
Ms. Lively is considering her legal strategies and anticipates a trial in New York in March to address her claims against Baldoni, Heath, Nathan, and the other defendants involved with Wayfarer.
Wallace has responded to Lively’s lawsuit by filing his own claim for defamation in a Texas court.
Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s lawyer, said they were pleased with the court’s decision today, which confirms the lawsuit against Mr. Wallace was never appropriate for this court, according to a statement to the Daily Mail.

There’s no evidence he was involved in any negative campaign, and the court has already rejected all accusations against him.
The other defendants are eager to present their defense in court and prove Ms. Lively’s accusations are unfounded.
This news follows recent accusations in the continuing legal battle between the two former co-stars. These claims allege that one actor secretly used technology to damage the reputation of the other.
According to a court document obtained by the Daily Mail, lawyers for 38-year-old Lively allege that Baldoni and his team—including attorneys, agents, and PR professionals—used online methods to hide important evidence during the legal case.
As a lifestyle expert who often deals with transparency and honesty, I’ve seen this tactic before. What their team is saying is that the other side has been consistently making it difficult to get to the truth. They’ve either refused to hand over important documents, or they’ve tried to keep things hidden by claiming those documents are protected by attorney-client privilege – basically, saying it’s a private conversation between them and their lawyer. It’s a way of dodging real accountability and preventing a fair look at the facts.
Lively’s legal team claims that Baldoni’s side has filed at least twelve motions seeking information during the discovery phase of the case against them.

According to Deadline, a former colleague of Baldoni’s at the PR firm Jonesworks LLC – which is also involved in the legal case – made comparable claims in a court filing on Wednesday.
Lawyers for Blake Lively, who is married to Ryan Reynolds, stated in court documents that Jason Baldoni worked with people from Wayfarer Studios and public relations professionals like Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel. They allege this involved using apps, automatically disappearing messages, and other digital tools.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this case closely. What happened to Lively was really disturbing. Basically, Baldoni and his team intentionally tried to ruin her reputation online. They used a bunch of digital tools to do it – things like the Signal app, voice recordings, and other software – and it was all very coordinated. Her lawyers presented this information in court, outlining how they systematically targeted her online presence.
According to Lively’s legal team, Baldoni and his colleagues acted as if they anticipated a lawsuit and tried to hide information that could have harmed their position if it became public.
According to legal documents reviewed by Deadline, details about Signal and related projects came from interviews with former Nathan employees, Katherine Case and Breanna Butler.
The actress, known for her role in Gossip Girl, accused Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment during the filming of their movie, It Ends with Us, which became a popular success when it was released last August. Baldoni has stated that the accusation is false.
The movie was a financial success, bringing in $148 million in the US and $350 million worldwide. However, recent accusations from the actors have unfortunately taken the focus away from that positive reception.
The film featured Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, Brandon Sklenar, and Kevin McKidd, and was adapted from Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel.
The movie’s plot focused on the unhealthy and damaging relationship between Lily Bloom, portrayed by Blake Lively, and Ryle Kincaid, played by Justin Baldoni.

The movie follows Lily as she tries to build a new life after a difficult childhood. She meets a neurosurgeon and they connect, but she soon discovers troubling similarities between him and her parents, forcing her to confront her past.
Last December, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment, unfair retaliation, and causing intentional emotional distress.
The actress filed a lawsuit claiming that Baldoni sexually harassed her, made demeaning comments about her body, and tried to ruin her career by spreading false information about her.
In her legal complaint, Lively identified several people who worked with Baldoni, including his production company Wayfarer Studios, its CEO and primary investor, and publicists Nathan and Abel.
Baldoni first requested $250 million from The New York Times due to a report they published, and later included this claim in the $400 million lawsuit he filed in January.
Baldoni filed a lawsuit naming Blake Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and Lively’s publicist, Leslie Sloane. The suit referenced a previously reported issue, but was dismissed in court this June.
All parties have denied all of the allegations against them.
