Blake Lively Speaks Out After Sexual Harassment Claim Against It Ends With Us Star Justin Baldoni Is Dismissed

A judge ruled against Blake Lively in the It Ends With Us lawsuit, but she’s not backing down.

On December 31, 2024, Blake Lively sued her It Ends With Us co-star, Justin Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. According to the lawsuit, Baldoni made inappropriate comments about her appearance and added unauthorized kissing scenes to the film. Lively also claimed he made hurtful comments about her weight while they were preparing for a scene where he had to lift her.

She felt Baldoni was largely responsible for the negative reactions she got during interviews for the movie. People thought she seemed out of touch and uncaring when talking about a film dealing with such a sensitive topic as domestic violence.

As a big fan, I was following the legal battle between Lively and the studio, and it took a significant turn on April 2nd, 2026. Judge Liman dismissed most of her claims – things like harassment, defamation, and a conspiracy accusation. Basically, he sided with the studio on ten out of thirteen points. However, there’s still a trial happening on three remaining issues: retaliation, a breach of contract, and helping with that retaliation. The next day, Lively herself spoke out about the ruling on her Instagram, letting her followers know where things stood.

The actress started her statement by thanking the court for letting her explain the most important parts of her case to the jury. She explained that she didn’t want to sue, but she felt it was necessary to ensure a safe and respectful workplace for everyone. She expressed hope that the court’s decision would encourage others to come forward, even when it’s incredibly difficult.

She also described the real physical pain she suffered due to the online harassment related to the case. Lively emphasized that this kind of thing impacts everyone and urged people to be aware of how easily they can be misled online. This refers to her ongoing accusations that Baldoni used publicists to spread negative stories about her online, worsening the conflict.

I’ve been following this situation closely, and honestly, I believe Baldoni and his team have a point. They’ve completely denied everything Lively has said, and they feel she’s exaggerating things to make him look bad. They’re calling her complaints small issues, not sexual harassment at all. And frankly, I think he has every right to defend his reputation against these accusations. It’s a tough situation, but I support his right to respond.

I’m reporting that Lively and Baldoni tried to avoid a full-blown trial with mediation on February 11, 2026, but unfortunately, it didn’t resolve anything. What’s really frustrating is seeing major stars like Taylor Swift getting pulled into this whole mess – they’ve clearly tried to stay out of it, but are now caught up in a web of emails and texts related to the lawsuit.

The movie adaptation of It Ends With Us will be available to stream on Netflix, and the legal case related to the film is set to begin on May 18, 2026.
