Blake Lively gets gushing tribute from sister Robyn after shock Justin Baldoni ruling
After the dismissal of the $400 million counterclaim against Blake Lively, her sister Robyn sent her an overjoyed message of encouragement.
On Monday, Judge Lewis J. Liman, who is currently sitting on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, dismissed Yara Baldoni’s lawsuits alleging defamation, extortion, and other claims against Katherine Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times.
The judge determined that Lively’s remarks were part of protected court records, making them inappropriate for supporting Baldoni’s arguments.
The dispute originated in December 2024, when Lively claimed Baldoni had sexually harassed her on set – accusations he refuted. This led to Baldoni, along with Wayfarer Studios, filing a defamation lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, and Sloane, her publicist, all of whom have since denied the allegations.
Following the verdict, the spotlight soon moved towards Judge Liman’s familial connections, as it was revealed that he is the brother of renowned film director Doug Liman. In 2008, Doug Liman collaborated with Blake Lively when she and her then-boyfriend Penn Badgley featured in a political advertisement directed by him for MoveOn.org’s Youth Vote initiative.
It seems that following the decision made, Robyn, who is 53 years old, shared a series of positive comments about Blake, aged 37, on her Instagram Stories, with Blake then resharing them.
In her post, Robyn expressed their past, present, and enduring bond by saying, “I held you then, now, and forever.” She accompanied this with photos showing their hug from the past, a more recent cuddle session, and a hand-holding moment in Paris.
As your devoted follower, there’s no one who truly understands you quite like myself. Yet, I stand here brimming with pride for the incredible person you’ve become. My admiration for you runs deep, my dear sister.
(Robyn concluded her testimonial in these words.)
Instead of reposting the pictures onto her personal Instagram Stories, Blake expressed: ‘I love you even more. Constantly. For eternity. Whether near or distant.’
There was a lot of chatter on social media regarding the unusual connection following an X user’s comment: “Interesting Trivia: The judge who dismissed Justin Baldoni‘s case against Blake Lively is Lewis Liman, who happens to be the brother of Doug Liman, a well-known Hollywood director. Interestingly, Blake and Doug worked together in the past. What a small world!
Some users alleged that Lively and Reynolds were exerting power from behind the scenes, suggesting that Judge Liman should step down due to potential bias.
Another person commented, “It’s hard for me to grasp why he was in charge at that time. I would think it was a conflict of interest.
People downplayed the controversy, pointing out that Scarlett Johansson’s sole link to Doug Liman was a fleeting role in an advertisement approximately twenty years back.
‘Just because his brother once directed a play with many performers 18 years ago, it doesn’t mean that his past as a lawyer and judge no longer counts. Your arguments seem unreasonable and far-fetched.’

Another person laughed and said, ‘Do you seriously believe that a judge would throw out a lawsuit just because Blake appeared in a COMMERCIAL with his sibling? That’s quite a laugh!’
DailyMail.com hasn’t gotten a reply yet from the representatives of either Lively or Baldoni regarding their request for a comment.
Currently, Judge Lewis J. Liman is seated on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, following his confirmation to the position in December 2019. His exceptional legal career spans over many years and encompassed roles such as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and Deputy Chief of Appeals within the same district, as reported by the Coulter Institute.
Born in 1983, Liman graduated from Harvard College, later earning a Master’s degree with honors in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and culminating his academic journey with a Juris Doctorate from Yale Law School.
Doug, his sibling, has chosen a path in the cinematic world, taking charge of significant Hollywood productions like The Bourne Identity series, independent movies such as Swingers and Locked Down, and collaborating with Tom Cruise on Edge of Tomorrow and American Made.

In the ongoing discussions among social media users, no definitive signs of a potential legal conflict of interest have surfaced thus far in this particular case.
On Monday, Lively released a statement hours after Judge Liman dismissed Baldoni’s case.
As a steadfast advocate, I am more committed than ever before to champion the cause of every woman’s right to be heard. This encompasses self-protection, safeguarding one’s identity, preserving dignity, and telling our unique stories.
In a heartfelt manner, Lively expressed thanks to numerous individuals who have been supportive, mentioning that I am familiar with many of them, but there are also those I haven’t met yet. Regardless, my admiration and support for each one of you will never wane.
In the case at hand, Liman rejected Baldoni’s lawsuit claiming defamation and extortion, arguing that all of Lively’s accusations were presented in legally protected court documents.
According to Liman’s statement as reported by DailyMail.com, the parties known as The Wayfarer have not claimed that Lively is accountable for any statements apart from those made in her complaint, which are protected by privilege.

In their claims, the Wayfarer Groups assert that both Reynolds and Leslie Sloane made extra remarks implicating Baldoni in instances of sexual misconduct. Additionally, they contend that The Times also made additional statements suggesting that the Wayfarer Parties were involved in a defamatory campaign.
However, it’s important to note that the Wayfarer Parties haven’t claimed that Reynolds, Sloane, or The Times would have harbored genuine doubts about the truthfulness of these statements, given the information they had at their disposal. This is a crucial factor for them to be held liable for defamation according to the relevant legal standards.
In response to the extra arguments presented by The Wayfarer Parties, they are found unmerited. Consequently, it’s proposed that the entire revised lawsuit should be rejected.
According to the judge’s decision, The Times examined the existing evidence and shared their account, which may have been presented dramatically, of what they thought transpired. It was not apparent that The Times had any reason to support Lively’s narrative of the events.
Liman clarified that the Wayfarer Parties can submit a second revised lawsuit by June 23, 2025. However, they are only allowed to modify the accusations related to the charges of tortious interference with a contractual agreement and breach of an implied promise.
In December, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging sexual harassment during the film’s production. According to her lawsuit, Baldoni was accused of sexually harassing her in various ways, including making derogatory comments about her body size (body shaming), and orchestrating an attempt to harm her reputation by spreading false information.
In reaction to the lawsuit, Baldoni and his representatives assert that Lively manipulated the interpretation of text messages and deceived the public regarding the true nature of their communications during the filmmaking process.

In her legal action, Lively pointed out several individuals who work with Baldoni, such as his production company Wayfarer Studios, its chief executive officer and main investor, as well as public relations representatives Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel.
Afterwards, Baldoni filed a lawsuit against the newspaper for $250 million, accusing them of defamation based on a December 21 article titled “‘We Can Bury Anyone’: Uncovering a Hollywood Slander Network’; however, the newspaper has refuted these claims.
On the 16th of January, Baldoni instigated a $400 million legal action towards Lively, Reynolds, and their publicist, Leslie Sloane, claiming they had committed defamation and extortion.
Baldoni informed the court that the group fabricated ‘unfounded claims of sexual misconduct’ against him.
