Blake Lively Demands Proof of Baldoni’s $400M Claim
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni are currently engaged in a legal dispute stemming from their work on the 2024 film “It Ends with Us”. The disagreement started when Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni, who was both the director and co-star of the movie with her. Since then, they have taken legal action against each other, and neither party has shown signs of backing down. Now, Baldoni is suing Lively and others for $400 million, and Lively’s representatives are seeking relevant documents concerning this lawsuit.
In January this year, Justin Baldoni initiated a lawsuit against his former partner, claiming over half a billion dollars in damages. He aims to sue the actress (Blake Lively), her husband Ryan Reynolds, and others for alleged defamation, extortion, and more. Since Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios allege they have sustained $400 million in losses, Lively’s legal team has requested a judge to compel Baldoni’s side to disclose their financial records as proof. According to TMZ, this request was made to verify the claims made by Baldoni and his company.
Previously, I’ve found myself in a similar situation as when I requested certain documents related to the ‘Another Simple Favor’. My legal team and I recently met with Team Baldoni hoping to obtain these papers, but were informed that they could only share “non-privileged documents concerning their damages.” However, we believe that since Baldoni and their associates claim to have incurred hundreds of millions of dollars in damages, they should disclose the methodology behind their specific financial calculation.
The legal dispute started in full swing in December 2024, when Blake Lively lodged her complaint, accusing her former co-star and director from “Jane the Virgin” of sexual harassment on set. She also claimed that the actor, producer, and his public relations team orchestrated a defamatory campaign against her. In the end, she took legal action against her ex-colleague, the director, Wayfarer Studios, and others, citing the same misconduct outlined in her initial complaint.

Initially, articles accusing me of wrongdoings were published by The New York Times. These allegations, detailed extensively in the story, were vigorously contested by me. In response, I filed a libel lawsuit against the Times for $250 million. Subsequently, following the publication of that article in December, my representation at WME ended. Ari Emmanuel, the head of the company, later discussed our separation and continued business relationships with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. He made it clear that he held the allegations against me in contempt and expressed strong support for the couple, whom he referred to as “good people.
Lately, there have been further crucial advancements regarding this ongoing legal matter. Just this week, Taylor Swift – initially mentioned in leaked communications from Justin Baldoni’s crisis management team – was summoned to testify as a witness. In response, her team issued a statement (published by Deadline) asserting that the artist neither visited the set of It Ends with Us and had no role in any casting or creative choices associated with the production.
There has been considerable discussion about the extensive resources – both time and finances – that Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have invested in this ongoing legal dispute. In January 2025, attorney Gregory Doll forecasted that the case would become increasingly contentious as it moved forward. He further predicted that both parties would face significant financial burden and emotional distress.
At the moment, it’s unclear when the Lively/Baldoni issue will reach a resolution. Regarding Lively’s team’s demand for the financial documents, we’ll have to wait and see if they manage to secure them.
