Blake Lively claims Justin Baldoni cited an A-list star as inspiration for alleged PR takedown
As a seasoned observer of Hollywood’s intricate web, I find myself deeply saddened and somewhat amused by this ongoing saga between Blake Lively and Robbie Brenner, the co-star and producer of their film respectively. Having spent years navigating the often treacherous waters of Tinseltown, I can empathize with both parties to some extent.
In a stunning legal action, Blake Lively claims that Justin Baldoni orchestrated a supposed public relations attack on her, while also naming Hailey Bieber as an inspirational figure, according to the explosive lawsuit she has filed against him.
In a lawsuit, Lively claims that Baldoni behaved inappropriately towards her and created an unpleasant work atmosphere during the filming of “It Ends With Us,” where he both directed and acted alongside her. However, Baldoni strongly refutes these allegations.
According to Lively’s team, text messages within the legal complaint show a complex strategy, which Baldoni and his team referred to as “social manipulation,” intended to tarnish Lively’s reputation. They claim this scheme started after she expressed worries about working conditions on the set.
During the film’s promotional period this past summer, whispers of a disagreement between the lead actors started circulating, as fans observed an icy dynamic between them at public events like the red carpet.
According to Lively, it is asserted that Baldoni enlisted the services of crisis management expert Melissa Nathan, who has worked with high-profile figures like Johnny Depp in the past, prior to August 2. This new PR team also included publicist Jennifer Abel.
In her court case, Lively has added a supposed text from Baldoni to Abel as evidence – a snapshot of a conversation in an X forum discussing bullying accusations against Bieber, accompanied by the statement: “This is the sort of evidence we require.
DailyMail.com has reached out to representatives for Baldoni and Lively for comment.
As a devoted admirer, I had reservations about working with Baldoni before we started filming, as I alleged in my legal complaint. To my dismay, our creative visions seemed to collide when he aimed to incorporate unnecessary nudity and intimate scenes into the film.
During the movie production, relations worsened significantly, eventually leading to a human resources meeting. At this meeting, both Jensen Averre Baldoni from Wayfarer studio and Blake Lively agreed on certain conditions, as recorded in the documents, before Lively would be prepared to resume filming following the writers’ strike.
Prior to August 2nd, Baldoni brought on crisis management expert Nathan and publicist Abel onto his public relations team.
A significant number of communications from the court case, obtained through a subpoena, involve conversations among the women. One such conversation includes Nathan stating that he could ‘eliminate or discredit anyone.’
The message was sent in reply to Abel’s text which says that Baldoni, ‘wants to feel like she [Lively] can be buried’.
Nathan replies, “Absolutely – but remember, when we share documents, we can’t include what we might or might not do as it could lead to problems. Also, we can’t state that we will harm anyone.
She followed up the message with another which reads, ‘Imagine if a document saying all the things that he wants ends up in the wrong hands.
‘You know we can bury anyone but I can’t write that to him. I will be very tough.’
Another back and forth on August 2 appears to show Nathan joking about murdering Lively.
“I’ve also sent you a gift. Rest assured, I didn’t harm anyone and send them to your house in a box. It’s just a present to congratulate you.” Abel’s response, ‘DAMNIT’, can remain unchanged.
In the afternoon of the same day, Abel penned down her thoughts, saying, “I’m considering writing some critical articles this week on how difficult it is to collaborate with Blake.
As rumors surfaced about friction between Lively and Baldoni, there were whispers that their disagreements were primarily related to creative matters.
Baldoni emphasized promoting the movie by highlighting the central theme of domestic abuse, whereas Lively believed a more optimistic and inspiring approach would be preferable.
Later on, Lively faced criticism due to her insensitive approach when advertising the movie, as she neglected to bring up the issue of domestic abuse during multiple interviews despite its relevance to the film.
It isn’t certain whether this response was deliberately planned, but Baldoni’s communications seem to suggest that he was prepared to take advantage of the unfavorable publicity.
Baldoni requests a specific approach for TikTok, asking that content shared focuses solely on discussing domestic violence, sharing relevant clips, and emphasizing the importance of the mentioned movie.
However, amidst the ongoing debate about the movie, some of the more questionable accusations that Blake Lively had made privately against Baldoni started to surface in the media.
As a devoted follower, I can share that he crossed boundaries by making uncomfortable remarks about my physique and lingered excessively during our on-screen affectionate moments.
The texts reveal that the crisis management team hastily attempted to redirect focus, refocusing attention back on Lively.
On August 11, Abel sent Baldoni a message reassuring him that the stories were not a threat.
She expressed that there’s been minimal response, yet fans continue to be encouraging and suspect that the supposed dispute arose due to her taking charge of the film.
Yesterday, Nathan told Abel that most people seem to support Justin, but he doesn’t align with many of their views, chuckling and saying, “Ha-ha, only half of them make sense to me.” Additionally, Nathan feels quite smart about his unique approach towards the situation.
Jen, everything turned out splendidly! I can hardly contain my excitement. I’ll be giving you a call shortly to share all about it. Simply brilliant, if I may say so myself.
Further allegations about Baldoni’s unwelcome behavior are included in the legal complaint.
The allegations state that Baldoni displayed an explicit video of his wife to Lively, intruded upon the star’s private space (either when she was naked or breastfeeding), publicly disclosed his supposed pornography addiction, and made both Lively and other female staff members uneasy with his inappropriate sexual comments.
During a January gathering involving Lively, Baldoni, and multiple studio reps, it was decided that various adjustments would be made, one of which involved appointing an intimacy coordinator on set.
As a proponent of holistic living, I firmly believe that despite our varying viewpoints, creating a secure space for everyone is non-negotiable. This principle guides my actions and recommendations.
Additionally, it appears that a media strategy document, allegedly prepared by the crisis management team, which is part of the legal complaint, lays out a plan aimed at safeguarding Baldoni’s reputation, as well as those of lead producer Jamey Heath and fwayfWayfarer.
The document outlines several possible talking points to boost Baldoni, but also discredit Lively.
They mention that she has a less-than-favorable standing within the industry, as well as the tactic she used by bringing her husband, Ryan Reynolds, into the mix to potentially skew the balance of power.
As a devoted supporter, I stepped into the post-production phase and made a personal choice to work with my preferred editor, who skillfully reassembled the movie footage. It was this very edit that eventually graced the silver screen upon distribution.
In a different communication, it seems Baldoni is proposing using Reynolds’ participation as an additional strategy to attract Lively’s attention.
The message implies that my partner suggested we change the storyline following this morning’s leak regarding Ryan claiming the script was disastrous but he saved the movie. In other words, they proposed using their own words against them.
Additionally, the document implies that certain team members may have been terminated as a result of Lively pushing for creative control.
Baldoni has refuted the claims through his lawyer Brian Freedman.
It’s unfortunate that Ms. Lively and those representing her have chosen to make grave and untrue allegations against Mr. Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and their associates. This appears to be another last-ditch effort on her part to improve her tarnished image, which stems from comments and actions she made during the film’s promotional campaign.
Observations made on live, uncensored interviews and media appearances, enabling the public to form their own views and opinions on social media.
‘These claims are completely false, outrageous and intentionally salacious with an intent to publicly hurt and rehash a narrative in the media.
To prevent any issues with actress Blake Lively during their upcoming film’s marketing campaign, Wayfarer Studios chose to bring on a crisis manager ahead of time. This individual would collaborate with their representative from Jonesworks (employed by Stephanie Jones), as tensions had risen during production due to threats from Ms. Lively, such as not appearing on set and refusing to promote the film. If her demands weren’t addressed, it was feared these actions could negatively impact the movie’s success when it was released.
Additionally, it emerged that Ms. Lively engaged Leslie Sloan from Vision PR, who is also associated with Mr. Reynolds, to spread untrue and malicious stories to the media before any promotion for the film began. This was one of the factors that led Wayfarer Studios to bring on a crisis management expert to start preparing internal contingency plans in case such issues arose.
At Wayfarer Studios, their representatives remained passive, neither taking any active steps nor responding aggressively, but instead, they only addressed incoming media queries for accurate and fair coverage. They also kept a watchful eye on social media activity.
Freedman noted that the selectively shared communications lacked proof that no active steps were taken with the media or otherwise, beyond internal strategic planning and private communication. This is a typical approach for PR professionals when dealing with sensitive matters.
Lively denied planting false or negative stories about her co-star or his company.
She expressed her hope that her legal action would expose the hidden, harmful retaliatory strategies used against those speaking out about misbehavior, thereby safeguarding others who might face similar targeting in the future.
