As a seasoned moviegoer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I have seen my fair share of behind-the-scenes drama, and let me tell you, the latest Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni feud is right up there with the best of them.
During the shooting of their romantic drama “It Ends with Us” in New Jersey last year, a heated discussion between actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, who also directed and co-starred, was observed.
As an over-the-moon fan, I couldn’t help but notice a seemingly tense moment between my beloved icons, Lively and Baldoni, in a clip shared by Jill Amos (@thefamousamos) on her Instagram Stories and later reposted by The Hoboken Girl (@thehobokengirl).
On May 17, 2023, a video was recorded inside a restaurant in Hoboken, New Jersey, showing a heated conversation between Lively and Baldoni. According to TMZ’s report, this interaction appeared tense.
In the video, Lively was gesturing with her hands and appeared to step back from Baldoni, who was noticeably waving his hands. The interaction concluded with Lively nodding in agreement to the actor-director, signifying ‘OK’.
At first, Amos titled his Instagram Story post as, ‘I’ve been asked a few questions about the recent drama, and indeed, they were having an argument, chuckle!’
In a challenging setting for both cast and crew members, as confirmed by several sources, Baldoni faced a particularly tough scenario. Additionally, it was disclosed that Lively felt uneasy during the shooting process. (Page Six reported this.)
According to the source, none of the cast seemed to enjoy collaborating with Justin, as there was no interaction between them during the premiere.
According to reports from TMZ, Baldoni was responsible for directing the scene without participating as an actor. They added that a source on set stated both Baldoni and Lively were not arguing at the time, and were just conversing during breaks between filming.
As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but share this intriguing tidbit: A third party not linked to the film production revealed to TMZ that on numerous instances during filming, I couldn’t help but notice that Lively seemed less than ecstatic. This movie, tackling weighty themes like domestic violence, is a powerful piece of work, and it’s quite fascinating to consider her reactions while immersed in such profound subject matter.
Enhancing the rumors about potential friction between the film’s director and lead actor was Baldoni choosing not to join in taking full cast photos during the movie’s New York City premiere at AMC Lincoln Square on August 6. Instead, he only posed with his spouse Emily Baldoni, 40, family members, and producers at the event.
According to sources, Lively and Baldoni separately watched the movie at the theater complex on different screens.
Multiple trustworthy sources informed the media outlet that Baldoni ‘has no intention of making his team feel neglected or without support.’
Tension between Baldoni and Lively may influence upcoming franchise projects, since he might choose not to direct a sequel based on Colleen Hoover’s 2022 book “It Starts With Us,” which serves as the follow-up to the current film’s source novel, “It Ends With Us” from 2016.
Baldoni, who owns the production company Wayfarer Studios that holds the rights to the book, seemed to express reluctance about taking on directorial duties for a sequel during an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere.
In my humble opinion, Blake Lively has demonstrated a remarkable talent for storytelling through her acting career and I believe she possesses the necessary skills to excel as a director. Her rich experiences in the film industry and her ability to bring characters to life on screen suggest that she is ready to take on this new challenge. This is simply my perspective, but given her track record, I am confident in her potential success behind the camera.
Reports to DailyMail.com on Friday indicate that Baldoni displayed behavior that was both chauvinistic and borderline abusive while filming the movie. Furthermore, it is said that he was dismissive of ideas proposed by Lively concerning scenes depicting abuse.
The source noted that Baldoni neglected to consider Blake’s character’s point of view, instead concentrating exclusively on what he perceived as the abusive male perspective. Furthermore, it was pointed out that his method was extremely biased towards males, resulting in a strained environment on the set.
In an unsettling turn of events, Justin’s behavior on set made some women feel as though he was verging on abusive and unprofessional, with a noticeable lack of remorse.

Over the weekend, the film featuring actors like Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, Brandon Sklenar, and Kevin McKidd, ranked second in the domestic box office, earning approximately $50 million within the U.S. Globally, it raked in an additional $80 million, as reported by Box Office Mojo.
