Black Panther Rumor Sees New Actor Filming Multiple MCU Movies

Recent buzz suggests Marvel Studios might be filming a new actor in the role of Black Panther for several upcoming movies.

What is the latest Black Panther rumor?

Rumors suggest that Damson Idris, known for his role in Snowfall, is filming scenes at Pinewood Studios in Nashville, Tennessee to take on the role of the new Black Panther. Insider Louai Turkmani and the Geeky Cast podcast both report that Idris will be spending a significant amount of time at the studio for these upcoming movies.

There’s a rumor that Idris Elba might be filming scenes for future Marvel movies, including the next Avengers films (‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’) and the upcoming third ‘Black Panther’ movie. While many believe he’s set to play Black Panther, Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed his role yet.

There’s been a lot of speculation about who will take over the role of Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Last year, journalist Jeff Sneider reported that Marvel Studios has already been considering certain actors to play T’Challa, following the passing of Chadwick Boseman.

Initially, Sneider predicted that David Jonsson, known for his roles in Alien: Romulus and the upcoming The Longest Walk, was more likely to be cast than fan favorite Damson Idris. However, since then, no new information has surfaced, and Idris remains the top pick among fans if the role needs to be filled by a new actor.

Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri/Black Panther, is confirmed to appear in the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Winston Duke will reprise his role as M’Baku, and Tenoch Huerta Mejía will return as Namor—the villain from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Several other familiar faces from previous Marvel films will also be featured.
