Black Myth: Wukong Developer Blames Xbox Delay on Console Memory

As a long-time gamer with years of experience under my belt, I have seen many delays in game releases, but the recent statements from Black Myth: Wukong director Feng Ji about the game’s delay on Xbox consoles has left me scratching my head.

I remember the excitement that built up around this game when it was first announced and the anticipation that followed. I had high hopes for a breathtaking action-adventure game with stunning visuals, captivating storytelling, and immersive gameplay that would take me on an epic journey.

However, the recent statements by Feng Ji have left me feeling a little disappointed. As a gamer who has played games on various platforms, including Xbox, I can’t help but feel a bit frustrated at the lack of transparency and clarity around the reasons for the delay.

It seems that there may be some misunderstanding or miscommunication between Microsoft and Game Science regarding the game’s hardware limitations. As someone who has been in the industry for a while, I know that hardware limitations can sometimes be tricky to navigate, but it’s important to keep the fans informed about what’s going on behind the scenes.

In any case, I hope that Microsoft and Game Science can come to an agreement soon so that we can finally get our hands on Black Myth: Wukong. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll find out that the delay was due to some secret optimization techniques that will make the game even better than we could have ever imagined!

On a lighter note, I guess we can always take solace in the fact that at least there are no delays in the delivery of Xbox Series X/S controllers. They still seem to arrive on time, even if the games themselves are taking their sweet time!

Black Myth: Wukong director Feng Ji has talked about the game’s delay on Xbox consoles.

Microsoft has previously clarified that the game won’t be available on Xbox, emphasizing that this isn’t due to any hardware-related problems.

Back in September, I shared that the company made an announcement about the postponement. “Just as I previously mentioned, the anticipation for the release of Black Myth Wukong on Xbox Series X/S has us thrilled! We’re collaborating with Game Science to ensure its arrival on our gaming platforms.

Regarding the transactions between our partners and other platform owners, we choose not to offer any comments. However, I can assure you that the delay in release is not caused by any constraints related to the Xbox platform that have been communicated to us.

As someone with several years of optimization experience under my belt, I can confidently say that I haven’t come across a 10G shared memory without extensive tinkering and tweaking to get it functioning optimally. It’s definitely not something you can simply plug in and use right away.

The statement refers to the memory constraint of the Xbox Series S, the more affordable console within the Series lineup. It’s possible that the conflicting reports stem from the fact that the limitation wasn’t communicated to Microsoft at the time, meaning Game Science didn’t inform Microsoft that the delay was due to hardware issues.

Microsoft has yet to comment on Ji’s statements.
