Black Mirror’s future confirmed by show boss – will it return for season 8 on Netflix?

After a two-year break, the seventh season of Black Mirror came out last April. Since then, artificial intelligence has improved dramatically, making it incredibly easy to create convincing fakes. Given this, you might think the show’s creator, Charlie Brooker, would decide the series was no longer relevant.

Actually, a season 8 is happening! And you can be sure Charlie Brooker has plenty of ideas for it.

Thankfully, there are plans for more Black Mirror,” Charlie Brooker shared with Netflix’s Tudum blog. “I can confirm it will be back, just when the world seems to be mirroring the show itself. That’s great news!”

“That chunk of my brain has already been activated and is whirring away.”

The host, previously known for Screenwipe, hinted he’s committed to creating something truly original.

When I’m starting a new story, I like to think of it like making an album. That’s what Charlie Brooker told me – it’s a really helpful way to approach things and get the creative juices flowing.

When I’m working on a track, I usually ask myself what sounds we haven’t explored yet and what kind of mood I’m aiming for. I also consider where the song will fit within the album and what musical path we should take. We’ll figure it out as we go, but you probably won’t hear a country-style song on Black Mirror anytime soon.

In fact, Brooker also teased: “Hopefully it’ll be more Black Mirror than ever.”

When asked about his favorite episodes from season 7, Brooker admitted it was hard to pick just one – so he chose two.

He expressed strong pride in the episode ‘Common People,’ describing it as both haunting and sharply satirical. He recalled a producer telling him it perfectly captured the spirit of Black Mirror.

I consider ‘Eulogy’ to be one of the best Black Mirror episodes ever made. It’s incredibly sad, but also really moving. I’m particularly proud of how deeply emotional that episode is.

Black Mirror can be streamed on Netflix now.

I’m so excited! The latest issue of Living Legends is out, and this one’s all about Dolly Parton! You can grab a copy of ‘Dolly at 80’ at all good newsagents or order it online for only £8.99. It’s a must-have for any fan!
