As a die-hard fan of Black Mirror, I eagerly await each new season with bated breath. Charlie Brooker’s masterful storytelling and uncanny ability to predict the future never ceases to amaze me. The teaser for the upcoming seventh season has me on the edge of my seat, especially when he mentioned one episode as his bleakest yet. If Brooker says it’s a gut punch, I’m grabbing my emotional armor and diving right in!

Charlie Brooker, the creator of Black Mirror, hinted that one of the new season’s episodes might be the darkest one ever made.

Next year, the Netflix anthology series will make its comeback for its seventh season. Notably, one of the episodes in this new season is expected to serve as a follow-up to the fourth season’s “USS Callister”.

Although many specifics are still kept under wraps, it’s been revealed that Brooker discussed the forthcoming episodes with Deadline, hinting that one episode might carry his darkest message to date.

He started by saying they were venturing into uncharted territories. You can anticipate a strong emotional response and, ideally, a blend of suspenseful moments. In Season 6, we introduced some horror narratives that we called Red Mirror. However, this season’s episodes are more reminiscent of the original Black Mirror in essence.

As a passionate writer, I penned a script that seemed to leave an indelible mark on many hearts. It was likened to a powerful, soul-stirring blow, one of the darkest and heaviest yet. But fear not, there are episodes brimming with technology and others that have moved viewers to tears. Here’s hoping it delivers a complete emotional workout – only time will tell. In the end, it is the audience who holds the power to decide its impact.

Additionally, Brooker discussed the overall series and its influence on viewers, mentioning: “Recognition for the show has been astounding since it wasn’t in my initial plans that it would reach beyond British borders when I first began working on it.”

“I find it irritating when people criticize technology as inherently evil in a show. Personally, I am fascinated by the incredible technological tools we’ve developed, including smartphones, which are truly remarkable. Like any potent instrument, its impact is determined by how it’s used.”

“In truth, I’m naturally prone to constant worrying, especially when it comes to the impressiveness of things. Being a former video games journalist and current tech enthusiast, I’m deeply invested in all this technology. Writing something like ‘Black Mirror’ wouldn’t be possible if I didn’t appreciate technology… However, I often find myself concerned about our tendency towards carelessness.”
