Binky Felstead’s Life-Saving Smear Test: A Grateful Mother’s Story
9 years back, Binky Felstead’s mom, Jane, encouraged her to undergo a pap smear test. On Monday, Binky expressed gratitude on Instagram about her decision, as doctors discovered ‘seriously anomalous cells’.
Originally from Made in Chelsea, now aged 34, she received a positive diagnosis and spent several months undergoing surgery, which ultimately enabled her to give birth to three kids. The removal of pre-cancerous cells can potentially make the cervix more susceptible to pregnancy difficulties.
Alongside a short video of herself baking with her three children, Binky thanked the test profusely and acknowledged it as something she will always be grateful for.)
During Cervical Cancer Prevention Week, Binky urged fans not to delay getting tested since it could potentially mean saving your life.
Nine years back, at age 25, Mummy Felstead encouraged me to schedule a pap smear exam after I frequently complained about stomach pain. I’m grateful for her intervention, as my test results revealed that I had significantly abnormal cells (CIN 3).
I was informed that not getting them taken out might impact my ability to have kids, so I chose to undergo the procedure with her by my side. I am eternally thankful for that particular test since I now have my precious trio of children.
This week marks Cervical Cancer Prevention Time, serving as a gentle nudge for you: Schedule your pap smear appointment without delay. Pushing it aside might seem tempting, but remember, taking this step could be a matter of life and death for you.
Currently, Binky finds herself beaming with joy as she takes on the role of mommy to her trio: daughter India, aged seven, along with sons Wolfie, at the ripe age of three, and little Wilder, who is only ten months old.
Cervical examinations are accessible for women and individuals with a cervix between the ages of 25 and 64 in England. Individuals between the ages of 25 and 49 will get an invitation approximately every three years, while those aged 50 to 64 will receive invitations roughly every five years.
As stated on the GOVUK site, ‘cervical screening’ is designed to detect the human papillomavirus (HPV), which may lead to the growth of abnormal cells on the cervix. If HPV is identified, a follow-up ‘cytology test’ is employed to examine for any irregular cells.
If no unusual cells are detected, a future screening appointment is scheduled for twelve months from now. This follow-up exam aims to verify whether your immune system has successfully eliminated the virus by then.
Most Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections tend to be temporary, and frequently, minor cell irregularities will resolve spontaneously once the virus is no longer present. However, if HPV continues, these abnormal cells – if not treated – could potentially develop into cancer over an extended period.
Starting from 2008, young girls aged 12 and 13 have been given an injection as a preventative measure against the human papilloma virus (HPV). This virus is known for causing abnormalities in the cervix that can develop into cancer over time.
Approximately half of women between the ages of 20 and 24, as well as around 80% of sexually active women throughout their lifetimes, are likely to contract Human Papillomavirus (HPV), which is primarily spread through sexual activity.
It’s anticipated that over the next ten years, this program should reduce mortality rates by an additional 70%. Unfortunately, Binky didn’t receive the vaccination as it wasn’t offered during her school years.
It comes as Binky confirmed that Beyond Chelsea will return for another series.
Last year saw the debut of a Made In Chelsea spin-off series focusing on Binky, Lucy Watson, and Rosie Fortescue, as they were captured living their lives 14 years since the original show’s premiere. Cameras documented their journey throughout this period.
As a loyal fan, I’m thrilled to share that Binky has announced its comeback for another exciting phase! It seems there’s a possibility that even more Original Gangsters (OGs) might make an appearance on the show.
During a Q&A session on her Instagram Story recently, a fan enquired about the reason for having just two episodes of “Beyond Chelsea”.
Later, she responded, “Last year, we managed to produce just two episodes, and these were primarily intended to gauge audience response. The feedback was astonishingly high, almost overwhelmingly positive.
Ever since then, about three-quarters of the original group have contacted us expressing interest in joining the upcoming stage. It’s all quite thrilling!
Before, fans had expressed their wishes for personalities such as Louise Thompson and Millie Mackintosh to participate in the program too.
