Billy Crystal and wife ‘saw bodies of Rob Reiner and his spouse Michele’ following horrific double murder

Oh my gosh, this is just… heartbreaking. I read that Billy Crystal and his wife, Janice, were actually there – they were among the first to see Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner after… after it happened. Can you imagine? Being there for your friends like that? It’s just… devastating. I keep thinking about how awful that must have been for Billy and Janice. It’s just so tragic.

Police discovered Rob and Michelle dead from knife wounds at their house on Sunday. Their son, Nick, has been arrested and charged with felony murder.

He is currently being held in jail without the possibility of bail. Police have confirmed that Nick is believed to be responsible for the deaths of his parents.

After Reiner’s daughter, Romy, called the police to report her parents’ deaths, she reached out to The Crystals. According to TMZ, Romy was the one who discovered her parents had died at their home.

I heard the news about Reiner and was absolutely heartbroken. Apparently, the actor and his wife were devastated too, and raced over to his house as soon as they found out what happened. It was awful – I understand they arrived before anyone could properly secure the scene and, tragically, ended up seeing their friends. It’s just a terrible, terrible situation.

The publication notes the couple ‘wanted to say their goodbyes.’

Shortly after the deaths, Crystal and his wife were seen inside the police barrier around the property. The actor looked upset, walking slowly with his wife and appearing to wipe away tears.

The Daily Mail reached out to representatives for Crystals for a statement, but they haven’t responded yet.

Reiner and Crystal became friends a long time ago, meeting in 1975 while working on the sitcom All in the Family, where they played best friends.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Back in September 2016, Crystal wrote about how they became friends with him! He actually said their on-screen chemistry was just SO intense, they decided to keep hanging out even when the cameras weren’t rolling. I knew it! I knew they had something special!

Crystal said it went great, and they decided, “Since it feels so good performing this together, let’s carry that energy into our everyday lives.”

We quickly became very close friends, and after I moved, we spent a lot of time together.

Reiner is best known for directing Billy Crystal in the 1989 hit movie When Harry Met Sally, which also starred Meg Ryan.

Nora Ephron wrote the beloved film about two friends who meet in college, move to New York City, and navigate an eleven-year friendship filled with ups and downs.

Crystal once shared that a highlight of their friendship was seeing ‘When Harry Met Sally’ for the very first time.

He described being at a screening with Rob when the famous orgasm scene played. The audience erupted in laughter, and when Rob’s mother, Estelle, delivered her iconic line, “I’ll have what she’s having,” the laughter was deafening – like hearing a truly great joke in a concert hall.

That’s what’s so amazing about filmmaking – sometimes you create a funny moment early on, and the payoff doesn’t come for months. We all felt a huge sense of anticipation and excitement when we realized this movie was going to be special.

The Reiner family has released a statement expressing their deep sadness over the deaths of Michele and Rob Reiner. They described the loss as tragic and asked for privacy as they cope with this incredibly difficult time.

Nick Reiner is facing murder charges in connection with the deaths of his parents, Rob and Michelle Reiner. Police found the couple dead at their Los Angeles home on Sunday, both having suffered fatal throat wounds. The mansion is valued at $13.5 million.

Rob Reiner directed some of the most popular films from the 1980s and 90s, like Stand By Me and The Princess Bride (both 1987), When Harry Met Sally (1989), and the legal drama A Few Good Men (1992).

On Sunday around 3:30 PM, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reiner. Firefighters found a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman deceased inside.

Their daughter, Romy, who lives nearby, reportedly found them while visiting their large home yesterday afternoon.

According to TMZ, Reiner’s 28-year-old child—his youngest—told police they believe a family member should be considered a suspect, describing them as ‘dangerous’.

Nick has openly discussed his past battles with drug addiction, including going to rehab around the age of 15 and, at times, experiencing homelessness.

In 2016, at 22 years old, he revealed he’d been to rehab 17 times. He also shared that he’d experienced homelessness after repeatedly declining to continue treatment.

He explained to People that he would have become homeless if he hadn’t followed his family’s suggestions and chosen to do things his own way.

I experienced homelessness in three different states: Maine, New Jersey, and Texas. I lived on the streets for weeks, and it was a very difficult time.

He’s a screenwriter who helped create the film Being Charlie, a story inspired by his own experiences with drug addiction and how it affected his family.

While in rehab, he worked on the film with his father, who also directed it. The movie portrays a difficult father-son relationship, specifically focusing on an actor father and his son struggling with addiction – a storyline closely mirroring the Reiner family’s own personal experiences, as they shared when the film was released.

You know, as I’ve observed in many families, even the strongest relationships have their complexities. In this particular case, the story concludes with the father acknowledging he sometimes came down hard on his son – and it really resonated with me because the actor, Reiner, actually went through something similar with his own son, even sending him to rehab at times. It’s a vulnerable moment, showing that even when we think we’re doing what’s best, it doesn’t always come across that way, and acknowledging that is a big step.

During a 2016 interview while promoting his movie, Nick shared that he didn’t have a close relationship with his father growing up, but that working on ‘Being Charlie’ helped him feel more connected to him.

When his book, Being Charlie, came out, he expressed his desire to remain sober and avoid homelessness. He explained that his past experiences with being without a home were life-threatening, stating, ‘It was just luck that I survived. It felt like taking a gamble, hoping for the best outcome.’

In a 2015 interview with the LA Times, Nick’s parents shared their regret about how they handled his addiction, speaking alongside Nick and their other children.

We didn’t heed Nick when he told us his recovery plan wasn’t working. We were so focused on what the professionals – those with degrees and experience – were telling us, that we overlooked what our son was actually saying about his own needs, even though he was currently sober, according to his family, explained Reiner.

Michele explained that they were heavily swayed by others who constantly told them this person was dishonest and trying to control them, and they readily believed these accusations.

Nick spoke frankly about his struggle with drug addiction, saying he was tired of it and disappointed in how it led him to a life he never expected. Coming from a supportive family, he felt he shouldn’t have ended up living on the streets and making such destructive choices.

This September, Reiner and Michele gathered with their entire family – Nick, Romy, their son Jake and his wife Maria Gilfillan – for a final full family photo. The picture was taken at the premiere of Spinal Tap 2, a film Reiner both directed and wrote.

Los Angeles police are investigating the deaths as murders, and a large number of officers were at the house Sunday night.
