Billy Bob Thornton’s Landman boss reveals if he used prosthetic for shocking full-frontal scene

Billy Bob Thornton caused quite a stir with a shocking scene on the show Landman, but reports that he fully exposed himself are untrue.

A scene from the show’s second season quickly went viral and became a major topic of conversation.

Okay, so I was totally worried about some scenes, but apparently, it wasn’t what I thought at all! Christian Wallace, one of the creators, said they didn’t actually show anything real. It was all done with amazing prosthetics and clever work – seriously, they really pulled it off! I’m so relieved and even more impressed with the detail now!

According to Wallace, the initial prosthetic provided by the on-set intimacy coordinator was so comical that the team rejected it. They ultimately chose a more understated option instead, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Wallace said he was surprised by the public’s reaction, explaining, ‘I’m surprised people believe that was really Billy performing nude scenes.’

This scene happens in a messy hotel room and features Tommy Norris, the character played by Thornton.

What starts as a pleasant surprise from Angela (Ali Larter) quickly turns awkward when Tommy is awakened by a room service waitress who screams upon seeing his reaction.

As Wallace explained, the scene required meticulous coordination behind the scenes.

He praised the intimacy coordinator for ensuring the scenes felt authentic, and also gave a shout-out to the props team. As actor Billy put it, they created a complex setup – his ‘rig’ – that really helped.

This episode, which originally aired in December, shows Tommy facing problems caused by accidentally taking too much medication for erectile dysfunction.

A panicked waitress was startled when Angela came out of the bathroom and yelled at her ex-husband, telling him to put his penis away.

She then reassures the room service worker, explaining the mishap. 

Honestly, I was a little worried when he… well, when things happened, but Angela quickly reassured me. She explained it’s a regular occurrence – he takes a lot of Cialis and, apparently, keeps bumping into things because of it! She apologized profusely, and it definitely made me feel better knowing it wasn’t anything personal.

Angela continued to playfully tease Tommy, saying, ‘Just so you know, that’s not the most flattering view of your… well, you really have to care about someone to look at them like that!’

Oh my god, can you BELIEVE Angela? It’s just… appalling, but I can’t look away. She was relentlessly tearing into this poor waitress, and then she said the most shocking thing – something about how if the waitress wasn’t a lesbian before, she definitely is now. It was so cruel, and honestly, a little bit mesmerizing in how awful it was. I’m horrified, but I swear I replayed it in my head like ten times. It’s just… peak Angela, I guess.

As Angela leaves, she explains, ‘I need to go get changed – my husband has a habit of exposing himself to the waiters, and it’s really awkward.’

Tommy angrily and humorously blames Angela, saying she convinced him to take another pill.

He angrily exclaimed, “What am I supposed to do with this?” and then threatened to make a mess of the breakfast, saying he might “ruin everything – the waffles, the fruit, the bagel, and the omelette.”

Let me tell you, I’ve seen a lot in kitchens, but this really stood out. A chef, clearly frustrated, zeroed in on one dish – the omelette. He wasn’t happy with it at all, let’s just say. He made it very clear it was a complete disaster and immediately told everyone to order a new one. It was…a strong reaction, to say the least!

Created by Wallace and Taylor Sheridan, the series Landman features a talented cast including Sam Elliott, Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Paulina Chávez, and Jacob Lofland.

On Sunday, Landman aired its season two finale, Tragedy and Flies.

It was officially renewed for a third season last month.
