Billionaire Taylor Swift pays eye-watering sum to snatch back her music empire

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I can’t help but rejoice in the empowering news that Taylor Swift has triumphantly reclaimed ownership of every single piece of music she’s ever created. After investing a substantial sum, she has successfully bought back the master recordings that were previously taken from her six years ago. This move not only showcases her resilience but also sets an inspiring example for artists everywhere.

In November 2020, the well-known pop singer, aged 35 at the time, reached an agreement with the investment company Shamrock Capital. This deal was made after Shamrock Capital had acquired the rights to the artist’s music catalog from music entrepreneur Scooter Braun.

According to reliable sources involved in the negotiations, the reported range of $600 million to $1 billion for the buy-back deal is significantly off the mark.

According to another report, Billboard says Shamrock apparently re-purchased Taylor Swift’s music collection from her for an estimated amount nearly matching their initial payment – roughly $360 million.

In a personally penned note published on her site, Taylor—worth more than a billion dollars—affirms that the income from her successful Eras tour last year was instrumental in financing the acquisition of her past works as well as encompassing her lifelong artistic accomplishments.

She expressed that her ultimate dream has always been to have the chance to work tirelessly so she can someday buy her music entirely, free from any conditions or partnerships, with complete independence.

Afterwards, Taylor expressed gratitude towards Shamrock Capital, commending them for their ‘truthful, equitable, and considerate’ approach during the transaction. She further remarked, ‘They truly understood it as my personal legacy: My recollections, my labor, my unique signature, and my long-held aspirations.’

She then joked: ‘My first tattoo might just be a huge shamrock in the middle of my forehead.’

In 2019, Scooter Braun, who used to manage Justin Bieber, stirred up controversy by purchasing Taylor Swift’s former record label, Big Machine Media, for $300 million. This deal gave him control over her music catalog, which he later sold to Shamrock Capital for a profit.

Taylor Swift, known for her hit song “The Love Story,” accused Scooter of being a bully due to certain tactics, yet she was unaware of his intended strategy. Additionally, she asserted that when she had attempted to purchase her masters from Big Machine label head Scott Borchetta earlier, he supposedly only offered to sell them individually, starting with her oldest and least profitable albums first.

To regain ownership of her masters, Taylor stated that she’d need to produce a new album under the label for every old recording she repurchased, effectively tying her to Big Machine for an extended period as she was keen on parting ways with them.

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share that the singer expressively conveyed on Tumblr her heart-wrenching decision to let go of her past. The melodies I crafted on my bedroom carpet and the videos I conceptualized and funded using earnings from performing in bars, then clubs, arenas, and eventually stadiums, are all part of that past she’s choosing to leave behind.

She added: ‘Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter.

Whenever I find myself uttering the name ‘Scooter Braun’, it’s usually in moments of tears or conscious effort to suppress them.

He was well aware of his actions, and so were they. They maintained control over a woman who wished to distance herself from them, indefinitely – that is, for an eternity.

She also mentioned that upon learning the news, what immediately came to mind was the persistent, underhanded bullying I’ve endured from him for quite some time.

Next, Swift provided a series of instances where she alleged that Kim Kardashian, Kanye West (then represented by Braun), and Kim were engaging in behavior that can be considered intimidation or harassment.

Shamrock once held the original recordings for Taylor Swift’s albums Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation. However, Taylor has regained control over these albums, as she had previously launched a campaign to remake her first six studio albums, four of which she has successfully re-recorded so far.

Taylor Swift’s upcoming album, initially referred to as “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” was highly anticipated and Taylor herself spoke about the rumors in her open letter. She stated that this album was the one she believed couldn’t be enhanced by re-recording it, but hinted there might be another version coming. Additionally, she mentioned that she may also release previously unreleased tracks from that particular album, known as “Vault tracks.

Taylor has remade all tracks from her first self-titled album, similar to ‘Reputation’, and it will be released again when the perfect moment arrives.

Previously, it was reported that Scooter may have facilitated an agreement between Taylor and Shamrock Capital for the purchase, as a means to garner favorable publicity amidst his feud with the singer, following negative impact on his career.

But according to sources close to the contract negotiations, he played zero part.

As a trusted lifestyle advisor, I can confidently say that contrary to a misleading rumor circulating earlier, no external entity played a role in the encouragement of this transaction. The decision was solely ours.

The sole credit for this opportunity belongs to the partners at Shamrock Capital and the management team based in Nashville.

Previously, Taylor did not own the rights to her music, but that situation has changed – it’s now her who holds the ownership. This shift occurred despite, rather than because, of Scooter Braun.

Meanwhile, after news broke of Swift’s business move, Braun said, ‘I’m happy for her.’
