As a longtime viewer and admirer of Billie Faiers and her family, it is truly heartbreaking to see them go through such difficult times with her father. The raw emotions expressed by both Billie and Suzie are a poignant reminder of the struggles many families face when dealing with addiction.

Billie Shepherd discusses her stepfather’s struggle with alcoholism in the forthcoming episodes of The Family Diaries.

34-year-old television host shares that her stepfather, Dave Chatwood, has left rehabilitation and now resides with her, Greg, and their kids in their home.

During an interview prior to the seventh season of the ITV program, Billie shared that her father is currently sober, and his path to recovery makes for a particularly moving narrative.

She explained: ‘That’s been something which we’ve followed over the last couple of series, but this series is particularly special because we get to celebrate him being sober.

Undeniably, life has its ups and downs, but this documentary offers an unfiltered look into our journey with Dad, capturing every emotional high and low we experienced along the way. I believe that our approach is transparent and sincere. After all, the story unfolding on screen is a genuine reflection of our lives, offering a true glimpse into who we are.

She mentioned an update about her stepfather: “My dad is doing fantastic! He’s recently finished his rehabilitation program and has been staying with us for the past few weeks.

He’s extremely relaxed and firmly decides to abstain from alcohol consumption in the future. He’s feeling fantastic about it and claims that it’s transformed his life, even saving him – a statement that undoubtedly holds truth.

In discussing capturing such personal moments, she stated: “As I mentioned earlier, the essence of a reality show lies in authenticity. Our family has received tremendous support and love, and by portraying Dad’s journey towards sobriety, we aim to share that experience honestly.

“It seems essential to depict the challenging, sorrowful episodes, because, during such difficult times, supporting a loved one truly takes its toll on a family.

The raw portrayal seems authentic, as many people in similar circumstances can empathize with it. It’s not like he was struggling one moment and miraculously fine the next; instead, his story represents an honest depiction of a genuine journey, complete with its low points.

Previously, Billie and her sibling, Sam, expressed their worries about their stepfather’s wellbeing on the ITVBe program titled “Billie & Greg: The Family Diaries.

Dave informed Billie that, according to his doctor, he only had around 15 more months left if he continued with his current activities.

Billie shared earlier: ‘My father recently discovered that his liver test results are irregular. After confessing to the physicians about consuming alcohol beyond recommended limits every day, the doctors express worry as they believe his health might be in danger due to this habit.’

In conversation with her mom, Suzie, Billie confided that things were somewhat frustrating with her father at the moment since she doesn’t foresee any significant changes happening right now.

After that, Suzie stated, “Well, I suppose he won’t suddenly change his ways, but if he doesn’t cool down, he might be fortunate to last another year.

Billie went on to say: “As Nelly and Arthur grow older, it’s becoming more challenging to keep the truth hidden from them.

As for him, I must confess, he seems entangled in an affliction. A persistent one, I might add, that’s akin to an illness, wouldn’t you agree? To which I responded affirmatively: Yes, indeed.

Billie remarked, “If he seems uninterested in improving himself right now, it appears that he doesn’t want to. So, what options do we have? We must continue doing things as we’ve always done.

Based on recent reports, Billie and her husband Greg have decided to leave the ITV show The Family Diaries following six seasons, as it has been disclosed in the last month.

The popular TV duo, known for openly discussing their personal family matters, have decided to end their series so that their kids can experience childhood without constant camera attention.

Billie, aged 34, and Greg, aged 39, who are parents to Nelly (age 10), Arthur (age 7), and baby Margot (21 months old) have spent their entire lives in the spotlight as they’ve been part of reality TV shows since their birth.

In 2014, their eldest child, Nelly, made her first appearance on TV on the show “The Only Way Is Essex” when she was just a newborn.

Much like Nelly, Arthur made his screen debut soon after birth, as he was featured on the television shows “The Mummy Diaries,” which starred Billie and her sister Sam, not long after they gave birth to him.

Ever since Sam stepped down from the series in 2021, Billie and Greg have been highlighting their lavish lifestyle on their individual program, introducing their precious daughter Margot along the way.

According to the source, Billie enjoyed her stint on the show immensely and had a great deal of fun, but now feels it’s appropriate to allow her children some privacy by keeping them off-camera for a while.

As a devoted admirer of these cherished memories, I’ll hold them close forever, gratefully acknowledging the role the production company played in their creation. Yet, my heart races with anticipation as I embark on unexplored opportunities with ITV.

‘There is no bad blood and the sky is the limit.’

TopMob have contacted Billie’s representatives for a comment.

A representative from ITV stated: “Right now, we’re busy producing a fresh installment of The Family Diaries, set to premiere on both ITVX and ITVBe by the end of this year. We’ve also been discussing potential collaborations with Billie for 2025.
