Billie Lourd’s Kids Honor Carrie Fisher on Star Wars Day

Billie Lourd, daughter of the late Carrie Fisher, shared how her family lovingly honors Carrie’s memory on Star Wars Day this past Sunday.

On the occasion of May 4th, affectionately known as ‘May the 4th be with you’, the 32-year-old American Horror Story actress and her two kids found it ideal to enjoy watching their grandmother’s timeless Star Wars movies together.

She shared an adorable picture of her children, Kingston Fisher (age 4) and Jackson Joanne (age 2), viewing their grandmother in the 1983 film “Return of the Jedi,” marking the end of George Lucas’ initial Star Wars saga.

‘Ⓜ️🅰️🌱 ✝️♓️📧 4️⃣✝️♓️,’ Billie captioned her post using emojis.

Actress from Booksmart, known for her complex family dynamics with her late mother’s relatives, is currently raising her two kids alongside her partner Austen Rydell. The couple officially became husband and wife in the year 2022, after a series of on-again, off-again relationships that began in 2016.

Eight years ago, following the heartbreaking death of their mother at age 60, shortly after Christmas in December 2016, the family now on the move, unveiled their emotional tribute.

The actress Rosanna Arquette commented, “This is heart-wrenchingly moving. Witnessing such a large mother is so captivating.” She then expressed, “My affection for you.

‘I’m not crying, you’re crying 😢,’ wrote one emotional fan in the comments.

Billie additionally posted some backstage snaps of herself and her mom during their last Star Wars projects on Instagram Stories, as a festive tribute.

Four days later, following a medical incident during her flight from London to Los Angeles, Fisher unfortunately passed away.

When passengers close by realized she seemed unconscious, one passenger began CPR on Fisher until paramedics arrived post-landing. She was then swiftly transported to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, unfortunately succumbing to her injuries later on.

As a diligent observer, I can share that an autopsy report revealed my demise was due to a heart attack, with sleep apnea and artery plaque mentioned as significant contributors. However, the exact trigger for my passing remains somewhat unclear.

The toxicology results showed that she had remnants of multiple substances in her body, such as heroin and MDMA. However, the exact timing when these drugs were consumed and whether they played a role in her demise remained uncertain.

Previously, Fisher penned down her battles with addiction in her 2008 memoir titled “Wishful Drinking,” a work inspired by her solo stage performance of the same title.

Speaking to People following the release of the coroner’s report, Billie expressed that her mother struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues throughout her lifetime. Tragically, she lost her life due to these challenges.

She openly discussed in all her work the societal prejudices related to these illnesses, she mentioned.

After her role in the original Star Wars trilogy, Fisher gained widespread recognition as a notable supporting actress, appearing in films such as Hannah and Her Sisters (1986) and When Harry Met Sally… (1989). Additionally, she ventured into writing, penning both novels and nonfiction works.

Afterward, she transformed her novel “Postcards From The Edge” into the critically praised movie of the same name, featuring Meryl Streep and Shirley MacLaine as its stars.

Nora Ephron, known for her abundance of wit, not only gained fame as a popular novelist but also found herself in high demand as a script doctor. She would enhance existing screenplays, contributing to projects like Steven Spielberg’s Hook, Sister Act, and The Wedding Singer, although she didn’t receive credit for these movies.

Billie, Carrie’s daughter, came into the world in the glamorous realm of Hollywood, with her maternal grandmother being Debbie Reynolds, an iconic actress from Singin’ In The Rain. Tragically, Debbie passed away due to a stroke only a day after Carrie did.

In 2015, she made her debut in the reboot of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, where she also appeared alongside her mother, who returned to the series.

For the 2017 movie “The Last Jedi”, both parties made an appearance, and Billie carried on to the concluding film in the series, “The Rise of Skywalker” (2019). In this final installment, she not only resumed her role as Lieutenant Kaydel Ko Connix but also portrayed a youthful depiction of her mother’s character, Princess Leia. This dual portrayal was enhanced with the aid of computer-generated imagery.

Billie can be seen in films like Booksmart, Ticket to Paradise, and The Last Showgirl, and on TV, she played significant roles in Ryan Murphy’s series Scream Queens and several seasons of American Horror Story.
