Billie Eilish carries on after Glendale fan flings object at her face mid-song
As a dedicated fan of Billie Eilish and her captivating performances, I find it disheartening to witness such unfortunate incidents during her concerts. The act of throwing objects onstage is not only disruptive but also potentially dangerous for both the artist and fellow concertgoers. Billie’s career is marked by a profound connection with her fans, and such actions do not reflect the love and admiration we all have for her.
At a recent performance on Billie Eilish’s “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour, both the singer herself and a number of spectators expressed disappointment when one audience member spoiled the experience.
On Friday night in Glendale, Ariz., the nine-time Grammy winner started playing her emotional ballad “What Was I Made For?” when someone in the audience threw something towards her on stage, right at her face, as reported by Billboard. This disrespectful act caused outrage from other attendees and a disapproving look from Eilish herself, based on fan-posted videos.

For the musically gifted siblings, their professions and familial ties have always been tightly connected. This is evident in their most personal album, ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft,’ which is a strong nominee for the 67th Grammy Awards.
In another video of the incident posted Friday on X, a voice can be heard saying “I’m sorry.”
On stage, Eilish momentarily halted her singing, just missing out on one line of lyrics. As the tune persisted, she casually discarded an item that looked like a bracelet or necklace, continuing with her act. She seemed unhurt throughout the performance.
A representative for Eilish did not reply immediately Monday to The Times’ request for comment.
2023 saw the “Birds of a Feather” singer discuss an issue not new to her in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter – for many years, she’s experienced audience members hurling items during performances on stage.
She expressed a combination of emotions, stating, “It leaves me with complex feelings, as I find myself struggling when I’m in that position.” Yet, she added, “Remember, it comes from a place of affection and they’re simply trying to offer you something.

At a concert in Idaho, country artist Kelsea Ballerini got hit in the face by something that a spectator hurled at her during her performance. This unfortunate event adds to the concerning pattern of unacceptable audience actions witnessed at live shows.
Artists like Taylor Swift, Drake, and Adele, among others, have addressed this widespread concern not only in interviews but also during their live performances.
Last year at her Eras tour in Buenos Aires, Swift said something like this: “Communication involves setting appropriate limits, and it genuinely unsettles me when items are carelessly tossed onto the stage.
She added, “Since items on the stage could cause a dancer to fall, I appreciate your thoughtfulness in bringing gifts. However, could you please refrain from tossing them onto the stage?
This week, Eilish finishes off the North American part of her “Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour” at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, as stated on her website. Her brother and regular collaborator, Finneas, is scheduled to open for the closing show on December 21st.
