Bijou Phillips looks loved-up on romantic date with boyfriend… just days after public call for kidney donor

I was so worried to hear that she’d been hospitalized while looking for a kidney donor, and she shared with us last month how fragile she’s been feeling and her honest fears about what’s happening with her health. It was really brave of her to open up about something so personal.

Despite feeling unwell, Bijou Phillips managed to go on a date with her boyfriend in Los Angeles this weekend.

Following her estranged husband Danny Masterson’s recent decades-long prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple rapes, 45-year-old actress Bijou Phillips was seen looking affectionate with fashion entrepreneur Jamie Mazur. The pair were photographed together after leaving the Chateau Marmont hotel on Saturday. Phillips filed a petition in October to legally change her daughter’s last name.

Phillips and Mazur held hands. Phillips looked relaxed and wore a black jacket with bright red, white, and blue geometric patterns on the front.

She paired it with a black top and high-waisted acid wash jeans, along with black boots.

She kept her outfit simple, but accessorized with an expensive black leather Hermès Birkin bag. Her long, blond hair was parted in the middle and styled in loose curls that fell around her shoulders.

Mazur, a co-founder of the Re/Done denim brand known for its vintage style, finished off Phillips’ outfit with a worn black leather jacket and a black t-shirt with a graphic design.

He wore dark blue jeans, a woven leather belt, and black leather boots, and had a full, salt-and-pepper beard.

People first noticed a connection between Phillips and Mazur in June 2024 when they were spotted taking a stroll together in Central Park, New York City.

Just a few months earlier, she had begun divorce proceedings from Danny Masterson, the star of That ’70s Show. This followed his conviction in September 2023 on two counts of rape, for which he was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.

Jamie Mazur and model Alessandra Ambrosio were together for a long time and have two children, but they ended their engagement and relationship in 2018 after ten years.

According to a source who spoke with People magazine, they met through friends in common when he and Phillips connected.

After a kidney transplant she received in 2017 failed, Phillips is now asking for the public’s help to find a new living donor. Currently undergoing dialysis, she recently shared with her followers that her situation is urgent.

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Phillips emphasized how precarious her health is, explaining that she could potentially become seriously ill or even pass away within a few days if she were to develop an infection.

After being on medication that weakens her immune system for a long time, she’s facing a difficult choice. She could potentially manage with dialysis for a couple of years, but there’s also a significant risk of a quick, life-threatening infection. Despite remaining hopeful, she emphasized that the situation is very critical.

Phillips has begun dialysis treatments once more. Dialysis helps clean the blood and is typically used for people whose kidneys aren’t working properly.

I’ve been feeling much better since starting dialysis. I was hoping my brother, Aron Wilson, might be a kidney donor, but unfortunately, we weren’t a match. He’s applying to participate in the kidney exchange program, but it’s uncertain if he’ll be accepted. He was previously denied, so he’s reapplying.

Phillips said she is ‘sort of hanging by a thread’ as her wait for a donor continues.

I’ve been waiting for an organ transplant for about a year now, and my health is very fragile. My father received a liver transplant when I was a child, and later, when I was in my twenties, he needed dialysis treatments at UCLA.

The drugs people take after an organ transplant – whether it’s a heart, liver, or kidney – are very hard on the kidneys. Because of this, many transplant recipients end up needing another kidney transplant within ten years. My father, for example, needed dialysis after his liver transplant, and sadly, he died just three days later from an infection because his immune system was so weakened. That’s why starting dialysis at UCLA was so frightening for me.

In the wake of the ordeal, Phillips has found solace in religion.

She’s been praying regularly, joining a small group for morning rosary prayers after taking her children to school. She also plans to observe Lent in a traditional way, by fasting on Wednesdays and Fridays. Her representative recently confirmed to Us Weekly that she has no connection to Scientology, clarifying that her only link to the church was through her ex-husband, Danny Masterson, who has been a lifelong member.

On a typical day, Phillips is able to retain a semblance of normalcy.

This morning, I took my daughter to school, then came home and had a quick snack. After that, I went to my dialysis appointment. When I got back, I usually run some errands, pick my daughter up from school, and either take her to activities or get dinner – either by going out or cooking at home.

‘That’s my day. If I don’t have dialysis, I’m running errands and going to the grocery store.’

She’s dealt with a kidney problem since infancy. Born with underdeveloped kidneys, she required dialysis for the first three months of her life due to limited kidney function, as reported by Us Magazine.

She had her first kidney transplant at 36 and was doing well until her health unexpectedly declined.

I was really busy with my music and had a lot going on before I found out my kidneys were failing again. I was working on a new album and even preparing to film a movie in Bulgaria – I was thrilled about the role, but unfortunately, I had to cancel everything when I got sick.

In 2017, Danny Masterson, who was married to Bijou Phillips at the time, announced she had received a kidney transplant. He shared the news online, explaining that a donor had given her a life-saving gift and she was starting to recover.

Earlier this month, Phillips used Instagram to ask for help, hoping her followers would spread the word and think about donating an organ to someone in need.

She revealed she was under the care of a doctor at UCLA and on dialysis again.

According to a representative, the actress was hospitalized and needed a kidney transplant, so she was searching for a donor.

Phillips shared photos of her daughter, Fianna Francis Masterson, 12, on Instagram and asked for support. She encouraged anyone interested in becoming a living donor to complete a short form linked in her bio. She expressed her gratitude for everyone’s help.

In a recent post, Phillips shared her lifelong struggle with kidney disease, explaining that she was born with underdeveloped kidneys and required dialysis for the first three months of her life in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

‘In 2017, I received the incredible gift of a kidney from a dear friend.

The transplant allowed me to enjoy five wonderful years as a mother to my daughter, but I’ve experienced several health issues since then. I contracted the BK virus, which caused my body to reject the transplant twice – once through cells and again through antibodies.

‘I am currently under care of Dr Anjay Rastogi at UCLA and back on dialysis

I urgently need a kidney donor to allow me to spend more time with my loved ones. Finding a donor quickly is critical.
