Bijou Phillips enjoyed a night out Tuesday, offering a brief respite from a recent health scare she described as extremely serious.
In February, 46-year-old Kelly Phillips shared on Instagram that she was in the hospital and needed a kidney donor. This isn’t the first time she’s faced this situation – she previously received a kidney transplant in 2017.
While still searching for a kidney donor, the socialite attended the Crown Affair x U Beauty launch dinner at Cipriani Beverly Hills, putting on a positive appearance despite her ongoing health challenges.
She dressed up for a night out in a white top, fashionable acid-wash jeans, and a small black jacket.
Mackenzie Phillips, the daughter of musician John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas and actress Genevieve Waite, showed off her trademark curly blonde hair.
She put her worries aside and happily chatted with Sarah Howard, a friend of Kourtney Kardashian, and Farrah Brittany, Kyle Richards’ daughter.
She mingled with popular figures like influencer Giuliana Ava, U Beauty creator Tina Craig, reality star Heather Rae El Moussa from Selling Sunset, and Dianna Cohen, the founder of Crown Affair.
Phillips shared that her first organ transplant allowed her to enjoy eight years as a mother, but she’s faced numerous health issues since then, including a BK virus that caused her body to reject the transplant. She is now receiving care from Dr. Anjay Rastogi at UCLA and is once again undergoing dialysis.
Throughout her health struggles, she was motivated by wanting to support her 12-year-old daughter, Fianna. Fianna’s father, Danny Masterson – who is Phillips’ ex-husband – began serving a 30-year prison sentence in 2023 after being convicted of rape.
Phillips explained that becoming a single mother has changed her life. She feels a renewed sense of purpose and responsibility, wanting and needing to be fully present for her daughter. She feels like her daughter’s sole support system, and she’s determined to be strong for her.
Natalie Masterson and Elijah Phillips first met on Valentine’s Day in 2004, got engaged in 2009, and married in 2011.
Phillips started divorce proceedings in September 2023, shortly after Masterson was sentenced for being found guilty of two counts of rape in May of that year.
Since 2024, she has been dating Jamie Mazur, the founder of RE/DONE. He previously dated model Alessandra Ambrosio for thirteen years, from 2005 to 2018.
Recently, Kathy Hilton, a family friend of Paris Phillips, shared some insight into the personal challenges Phillips is facing while dealing with her health issues.

According to Paris Hilton, Mackenzie Phillips was very upset and crying. Phillips is the daughter of the late singer Papa John Phillips and model Genevieve Waite.
Hilton said Phillips was ‘afraid if she did the dialysis that she might not make it.’
Paris Hilton’s husband, Richard Hilton, encouraged her to prioritize her health and follow through with medical appointments, even though she was anxious about them. He was instrumental in helping her receive care at UCLA.
Kathy shared that he called her and urged her to follow the doctor’s advice, reminding her she had a young child. She reportedly agreed, saying, “You’re right, you’re right.”
Paris and Nicky Hilton are part of a close group of friends who have consistently supported Phillips during her hospital treatments, according to Hilton.
Hilton shared that Phillips is receiving support from a strong network of friends and family – including her sisters, singer Chynna Phillips and actress Mackenzie Phillips – while she deals with her health issues.
‘There are a lot of people that were there every minute with her,’ Hilton told the magazine.
Hilton reported that nearly 1,000 people have volunteered to be donors for Phillips, and Phillips is deeply thankful for the incredible support from the community.
Hilton was deeply touched by the overwhelming support shown by people who offered their names to help Phillips during her illness.
Hilton expressed amazement and excitement, saying it was fantastic news for the hospital. While not everyone will be a compatible donor, those who are are committed to remaining on the list to help others.
That group included a confidante for Nicky, who was not a match for the kidney but wanted to help.
‘She’s never met Bijou,’ Kathy said, ‘but she still wants to continue on the journey.’
