Bijou Phillips is currently in the hospital and requires another kidney transplant. Her previous transplant unfortunately didn’t last.
I’m so worried about the actress! I just heard she’s back at UCLA Health and unfortunately needs to go back on dialysis. Apparently, she’s waiting for a living donor, and everyone is hoping someone compatible comes forward soon. It’s a really tough time, and we’re all sending her our best wishes.
In 2017, Phillips received a kidney transplant from a friend, but she experienced several problems afterward. These included a virus called BK virus, and ultimately, her body rejected the new kidney both at a cellular level and through antibodies, according to reports.
She is currently stable, but her representative emphasized the urgent need for action.
Just a few weeks ago, Phillips was seen looking happy and smiling at the premiere of Paris Hilton’s documentary, Infinite Icon. This was her last public appearance.
Daily Mail has reached out to Phillips representatives for comment.
According to the report, the actress is receiving treatment from Dr. Anjay Rastogi at the CORE Kidney center at UCLA Health.
From birth, Phillips has faced a lifelong battle with kidney disease. She was born with kidneys that didn’t fully develop and spent her first three months in the NICU receiving dialysis.
