Big Brother’s Bitter Breakups: Jordan and Henry Join the Long List
Over the course of 25 years, Big Brother has gained notoriety for its dramatic confrontations, emotional outbursts, and peculiar behaviors that have captivated viewers.
Additionally, it serves as a fertile ground for blossoming romances, where some residents find themselves growing fond of each other and even entering into relationships.
Sadly, many contestants on the show often end up with dismal results, leading some to speculate about a Big Brother jinx similar to the infamous one associated with Strictly Come Dancing.
2001 marked the beginning of an unexpected turn of events for Helen Adams, who found herself developing feelings for Paul Clarke even though she was in a relationship at the time. After they both returned to reality, their connection blossomed into a five-year romance. However, they eventually came to understand that their bond worked best as a friendship.
Ever since the unfortunate breakup of that couple, numerous participants have formed romantic connections, only to split up later. One duo even started their own TV show, while another accused a swindler of ruining their romance.
After hearing that Jordan Sangha and Henry Southan parted ways after 17 months together, they can find comfort knowing they’ve become part of a lengthy lineage of couples who ended their relationship following their encounter on the program.

Helen Adams and Paul Clarke
In the second season of Big Brother back in 2001, Helen and Paul hit it off almost immediately when they first crossed paths.
At the age of 22, Helen, who is currently a 46-year-old hairdresser, found herself among the favorites to win the show due to her charming and somewhat airheaded personality.
In a captivating turn of events, the duo sparked public fascination, and it was Helen who stood as runner-up, losing to champion Brian Dowling. Shortly after, an emotional reunion between Helen and Paul occurred outside the house, marked by a heartfelt embrace.
For a period of five years, they chose to be a couple and even shared a living space, yet decided to maintain their relationship private, avoiding public attention.

Prior to their separation in 2006, Helen was a frequent guest on various television programs like Loose Women, GMTV, and Ready, Steady Cook, where she made numerous appearances.
The pair attributed their split to the stresses of celebrity life, with Paul expressing to Heat Magazine that for the past five years, he had been continuously questioned by strangers about his relationship status with Helen: “Are you okay? When are you getting married?” These inquiries were made daily by people he’d never even met before. Over time, it became exhausting.
I haven’t been avoiding the topic of Helen; rather, I felt the need to step back and reclaim my privacy.
Helen commented: ‘I felt similar to the Wicked Witch, being the one to initiate a conversation. However, Paul then asked me if I’d consider marrying him, to which I replied negatively. He responded in kind, saying he didn’t want to marry me either. We shared a laugh after that.’
Paul then stepped out of the limelight and built a successful career in car design.
Since taking up work as a hairdresser in Bristol, it is believed that Helen has since gotten married and now has a child.
Sophie Pritchard and Lee Davey

During the 2002 season, Lee and Sophie stayed together in the house for just eight days, yet this brief time was sufficient to ignite a highly visible romantic relationship between them.
The relationship between the pair flourished from Sophie’s entrance on the tenth day up until Lee’s exit on the eighteenth, making them the initial Big Brother housemates to exchange vows following Lee’s proposal during a live broadcast on morning television.
At that moment, Sophie mentioned that she had picked up a newspaper, spotted someone who had entered, and thought, “He’s rather attractive, I find him appealing.
In the place where I was, it struck me, “He’s even more adorable in person.” There was some friendly banter between us, but there were no kisses exchanged inside the house since he was already in a relationship.
A year after their initial commitment, they tied the knot in an illustrious ceremony held in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Their union produced a child named Maxwell. However, their relationship didn’t last long and came to an end just ten months afterwards.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but notice that while the dazzling glow of Sophie seems to have faded from the limelight, the charismatic Lee has ventured into an entirely new realm. Instead of gracing the stages of glamour and fame, he found himself stepping onto the stage of Dream Boys – a captivating world where his muscles and charm took center stage as a stripper.
He then spent time writing for the French football website PSG Talk, before joining talkSPORT.
Michelle Bass and Stuart Wilson

In 2004, during the fifth season of the show, Michelle and Stuart eagerly embarked on a passionate relationship that had been brewing between them.
I can’t help but feel like I was there when the legend was born! It’s said that they were the pioneering pair who broke boundaries within the Big Brother house, a momentous event that still echoes in its history books.
As a die-hard admirer, I couldn’t help but get swept up in the whirlwind of excitement when the beloved duo’s romantic journey sparked a “Fake Wedding” challenge on the screen! However, being the conscientious participant that I am, I reluctantly relinquished my chance to take part, as I felt an unusual discomfort about it. Instead, I graciously handed over the opportunity to two fellow contestants, eagerly awaiting their performance with bated breath.
Additionally, they were known for playfully hiding under the kitchen table. Regrettably, though, this lively duo parted ways only a year following their appearance on the program.
As a diehard fan, I couldn’t help but follow Michelle’s journey. She found love with the captivating hypnotist Steve McKeown and together they revisited the legendary house for Ultimate Big Brother in 2010. I was on the edge of my seat as she made it to the semi-finals!
‘Chicken Stu’, meanwhile, had failed auditions for James Bourne’s band Son of Dork.
In 2018, Michelle shared with The Sun about her breakup with Stu, stating: “After Big Brother, Stu and I stayed together for approximately a year. However, our paths eventually diverged; it seemed destined that our relationship wouldn’t last.
Pete Bennett and Nikki Grahame

Pete, the winner of Big Brother season 7, and local resident Nikki from Northwood developed feelings for one another during their time in the house. After they left the reality show, they had a short-lived but sweet romantic relationship.
In my perspective, on-screen, we formed a unique connection as we shared our personal struggles. To begin with, Pete bravely opened up about living with Tourette’s Syndrome, making history as the first contestant to do so. Meanwhile, I grappled with my own challenges, having faced anorexia.
He called off their romance after just a month, but the pair remained close friends.
Pete remarked then, “She seemed more free-spirited without anyone constantly reprimanding her. I believe the situation could’ve been resolved more gracefully, but in hindsight, I have no regrets.
Regretfully, Nikki passed away in 2021 at the tender age of 38 following a challenging battle with anorexia. Just prior to her heartbreaking demise, Pete paid her a visit and posted a photo on social media showing them embracing affectionately.
Following her departure, he expressed his respect by stating: “You were cherished, Nik. You embodied the spirit of a champion. You were extraordinary, you were radiant, you shone brightly, friend. Simply put, I want to express that we’ll greatly miss you, darling.
Earlier, Nikki shared insights into her past relationship with Pete, expressing that she had felt affection for him then, but their connection wasn’t destined to last.
She expressed that she felt a deep discomfort when she found herself falling for Pete Bennett. It wasn’t supposed to happen. Yet, during that period, she did indeed cherish him. In truth, it was unique and significant.
Chanelle Hayes and Ziggy Lichman

Known affectionately as the “Big Brother version of Posh and Beckham” after their appearance in 2007, regrettably, they parted ways bitterly just six months later due to a number of heated disagreements.
Ziggy (also known as Zachary) and Chanelle had a well-known relationship with ups and downs within the house. This turbulent relationship reached its climax when, on day 62, Ziggy decided to end things by saying the famous phrase, “It’s not you, it’s me,” prompting Chanelle to leave the house willingly.
At age 26, he made an appearance on the series and ended up in fourth place. Since then, he’s maintained a relatively quiet public presence after leaving the program.
Meanwhile, Chanelle – who was just 18 when she entered the house – stayed in the public eye.
In 2018, they reunited on Loose Women to talk about their former romance.
Back in the past, Chanelle, a mother of two, alleged that Ziggy was distant or unresponsive towards her (ghosting). However, there was no question in his mind that they shared deep feelings of love.
In 2020, she mentioned that they would occasionally chat. She doesn’t have many conversations with other cast members from the show, generally speaking.
Lisa Appleton and Mario Marconi

In 2008, Lisa, a renowned figure from the “Big Brother” series, gained widespread recognition alongside her partner Mario, when they became the initial duo to enter the house together, creating a memorable milestone in the show’s history.
Their relationship remained a secret to their housemates until a shock task revealed all.
The situation became even more exciting when Mario popped the question during Big Brother, and later, they tied the knot live on The Wedding House in 2010.
Or:
Things grew even more captivating as Mario proposed while on Big Brother, and eventually, they exchanged vows on The Wedding House in 2010.
Both versions convey the same meaning but with slight variations in wording to maintain a natural and easy-to-read style.
However, in 2013, they ended their eight-and-a-half-year relationship. Lisa stated that they had been unhappy for some time prior to the breakup.
She told Manchester Evening News: ‘After a few years of highs, I hit rock bottom.’
The decisive factor that led to the end of their marriage was when they unwittingly fell victim to the fraudulent scheme of Selva Carmichael, who pretended to produce a false reality show by having them filmed for six months without their knowledge.
In simpler terms, Carmichael, often called “The Silver Fox,” reportedly ended his two-year marriage with Mario due to his deceit following the exhausting 18-hour daily filming sessions for a documentary that they hoped would catapult them to stardom.
Lisa stated: ‘He ruined my life, self-esteem, and honor. After he vanished, we were left destitute and without a home, owning nothing. For some time, Mario and I felt miserable – our entire universe crumbled when we became victims of fraud.’
2023 saw the disclosure that Lisa, once a reality TV star, had to take up the job of a delivery driver to keep afloat financially, several years following her stint on the show.
She experienced difficult times due to the sudden popularity, confessing that prospective employers rejected her, ultimately leading to her becoming homeless.
Following my separation from Mario, I found myself grappling with depression and an unhealthy dependence on comfort food. Particularly, I developed an overwhelming craving for pork sausages, which led me to consume as many as 50 a day. This addiction was a significant challenge for me.
Josie Gibson and John James Parton

In the year 2010, during the 11th season of the show, Josie, the host of This Morning, achieved a triumphant win with an unprecedented 77% of the viewer’s votes, the highest percentage ever recorded.
In a notable turn of events, the mare, who had quite a lively spirit, received support from her well-known association with contestant John James. Later on, they both appeared together in a sequel series titled “Josie and John James: The Next Chapter.
Their love faded fast, however, and by 2012 they had split up.
Over time, Josie has gained widespread recognition on UK television due to her popular hosting roles on “This Morning” and her successful participation in “I’m A Celebrity” in the year 2023.
As a devoted parent, I am fortunate enough to be Reggie’s mom, a lively seven-year-old. Lately, I had the privilege of hosting an enticing show called “Around The World In First Class.” During this adventure, I indulged in the scrumptious cuisine and luxurious amenities found within the cabins of some of the world’s most elite aircraft.
Meanwhile, John James moved back to his homeland, Australia, where he now functions as a disc jockey in Melbourne and made an appearance as a captivating contestant during the debut season of Love Island Australia.
Jordan Sangha and Henry Southan

In the inaugural season of Big Brother on ITV in 2023, Jordan and Henry captivated viewers as their friendship evolved into a romantic relationship. A week after the show concluded, they publicly confirmed their relationship.
Initially, they were good friends, but things changed when Henry revealed he was growing affectionate towards another contestant, even though this person had already confessed to having a complex bond with housemate Matty.
Following Jordan’s triumph on Big Brother, they disclosed that they reconnected within only three days, all while enjoying a festive and tipple-filled send-off event.
Jordan mentioned: “It caught me off guard, as it seemed unusual to me at first. However, when I received your number, I was surprised to find that there’s someone with this identity living in reality.
A year ago in March, the pair expressed surprise at the heartwarming responses from their online admirers about their relationship, which they found endearing.
The couple frequently shared glimpses of their relationship on social media, and the ex-lawyer, who has garnered many admirers with his witty humor, isn’t shy about posting love poems dedicated to his partner.
Regrettably, they were the most recent casualty under the influence of the “Big Brother” curse, as they disclosed their separation following 17 months of partnership.
The pair announced the ‘incredibly sad’ news that they’d decided to go their separate ways.
As a devoted follower, I’m sharing that Henry has made an announcement. On his Instagram Stories, he penned down: “Following much contemplation, Jordan and I have chosen to part ways separately.
‘It’s incredibly sad, and we’re both hurting, but we know it’s the right step.
We truly appreciate the affection and assistance you’ve extended towards us, it means a lot – thank you. For now, kindly allow us some time to work through our personal matters in private.
Later on, Jordan expressed their separation in a personal post, stating: “Following numerous joyful moments, cherished memories, and unforgettable encounters, Henry and I have decided to move our paths separately.
‘I want to thank everyone who has supported us. We will always remain close friends. Cheers.’
