Big Brother finalist Segun Shodipo reveals the future of his ‘flirty’ friendship with Hanah Haji after the pair’s awkward parting at the final
As an ardent fan of Big Brother, I find myself utterly captivated by the enigmatic Segun Shodipo. His life story is not just a narrative; it’s a rollercoaster ride filled with twists, turns, and unexpected surprises that keep me on the edge of my seat.
Contestant Segun Shodipo, who competed on Big Brother, has shared that he and Hannah Haji have not talked about the comments made about their friendly banter being flirtatious, which were brought to light in an uncomfortable manner during the live finale on Friday evening.
In the final week, our young cameraman, aged 25, concluded his journey in sixth position amidst the series, following several tense days that left spectators intrigued by his evolving emotions towards co-resident Hannah.
It raised doubt among several housemates if Segun and Hannah might have grown fond of each other, given their playful interactions, even though Segun claimed to be seeing someone else externally.
It was maintained by both individuals that they couldn’t coexist because of their contrasting beliefs, yet Hanah remained oblivious to the fact that Segun had shared with their mutual friend, Khaled, that it was actually Hanah who started the friendly banter between them.
During her departure meeting, Hanah expressed strong disapproval when she learned about the comments made, stating emphatically that she didn’t hold them in high regard at all. In an interview with TopMob, Segun mentioned they would prefer to wait for the social media uproar to subside before addressing the matter.
In my advice-giving role, let me share an insight I gathered: Following our encounter at the finale, Hanah’s nearest confidants reached out to me with sincere apologies. Earlier, through a private message, they had suggested to Hanah that she should exercise caution regarding Segun – a subtle reminder she received.
According to Segun, it’s rather unfortunate that they haven’t had a conversation yet, as he’s still figuring out the best way to handle things and interact with her based on his understanding.
As for updates from her, I’ve been just as in the dark; the last communication I received was from her close friends, following the day after the finale.
Instead of approaching me with a spectacle, they approached me with kindness, expressing their understanding of the chaos, offering apologies for my troubles, and it was quite endearing to receive such compassion.
In due time, Segun mentioned that there seems to be a great deal of mental clutter for both him and Hannah at the moment.
He stated: ‘I prefer to wait for things to cool off initially, then have a conversation with her, as she was like family to me throughout our time together, and our friendship meant a great deal to me. There’s been a lot of confusion and misinterpretation, but I don’t want this to fizzle out. Therefore, I definitely plan to talk to her.’
At the finale, Segun acknowledged that his relationship with Hannah was closely examined, and he’s discovering it unusual adapting to everyday life after exiting the house.
I declared: “That last evening was absolutely wild. It seemed as though I was under a microscope a little more intensely than usual. I found myself labeled as the antagonist, along with various other accusations.
It was challenging for me to handle this situation, and my family wasn’t particularly happy about it. Most people who interact with me would likely perceive me as a good and kind individual.
‘Even working in charity work like my mindset is not set on trying to upset people… but again you can’t please everybody.
After making some adjustments, it’s felt strange as I haven’t spent much time on social media to avoid getting overwhelmed or overly critical comments.
As I navigate through this journey, I’m not just absorbing criticism but also receiving an abundance of affection, which serves as a powerful motivator for me. What truly resonates with me is that by staying true to myself, I believe I’ve allowed others to witness the genuine aspects of my character, and in doing so, they’ve recognized and appreciated the positive traits within me. This, above all else, brings me immense joy.
Additionally, Segun mentioned that he’s maintained contact with the woman he used to chat with prior to his Big Brother experience, and following his victory of £10,000 in the Vault during the last week, he intends to use the money for a vacation in Paris.
He continued: ‘I definitely want to sort my mum out, bless my mum with that. I also want to take the girl I’m talking to, to Paris, because I always said I’d take her to Paris.
Besides donating funds, I’d like to further support Cancer Research UK by raising awareness about their work. I strongly believe in their cause and intend to use my platform to bring more attention to it. Moving ahead, I will do my best to direct focus towards their efforts.
