Beyond the Valley music festival set to host Victoria's first pill testing trial: 'It saves lives'

As a dedicated festival enthusiast who’s been to more events than I can count on my fingers (and toes!), I’m beyond thrilled about the upcoming Beyond the Valley festival in Victoria. The lineup is nothing short of stellar, with legends like Fisher, Ice Spice, Chase & Status, and even the iconic Sugababes gracing our presence. And let’s not forget about the UK Garage music star Sammy Virji and Natasha Bedingfield, who will be spinning those decks!

Beyond the Valley is set to host Victoria’s first pill testing trial

The annual music festival held at Barunah Plains Homestead in Hesse is set to participate in drug-testing experiments following the recent passing of a state law last month.

Jacinta Allan, the premier, stated that this process, being private, nameless, and approximately lasting 15 minutes, could potentially ‘preserve lives.’

Despite utilizing drug-sniffing canines during their operations, the police will persist in carrying out these activities throughout the four-day event that is scheduled from December 28, 2024 to January 1, 2025.

The move follows an increase in deadly drug overdoses in 2024.

Following the announcement, it’s clear that Australian DJ Fisher is set to headline an impressive roster at this year’s Beyond the Valley festival.

A thirty-seven-year-old master of dance will team up with rap sensation Ice Spice as headliners for a four-day festival starting December 28th at Barunah Plains in Hesse, Victoria.

The organizers made an announcement on Instagram about this year’s lineup for the dance and pop music festival, featuring UK drum ‘n’ bass artists Chase & Status among others.

Originating from the Gold Coast, the ARIA award-winning DJ known as Fisher, will additionally perform alongside the well-known British pop legends, the Sugababes.

Established back in 1998, this all-female band is anticipated to captivate their audience with their timeless tunes such as “Run for Cover” and “Soul Sound”.

Additionally gracing the stage at this year’s ninth BTV festival are DJ Marlon Hoffstadt from Berlin, known for his rave performances, the Sydney duo Royal Otis, and the American R&B and pop sensation Tinashe.

As an ardent fan and supporter, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be joining forces with the iconic UK Garage music sensation, Sammy Virji, at the 2024 event. Not only that, but we’ll be sharing the stage with none other than Natasha Bedingfield, the brilliant dance-pop artist who brought us the hit single ‘These Words’. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience!

Also performing live will be Confidence Man, Teenage Dads, Neil Frances, and Lola Young.

Besides Ghetts, The Rions, Barkaa, Kita Alexander, The Grogans, Billie Marten, The Terrys, and Sycco, several other performers will grace the stage at this well-attended event.

The Beyond the Valley 2024 festival is held west of Geelong, approximately 126 kilometers from Melbourne, and spans from December 28 to January 1.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! The organizers of the upcoming festival have revealed that they’ll offer single-day tickets for your convenience. Pre-sales for these tickets kick off on August 28, so mark your calendars and get ready to secure your spot at this unmissable event!

After 35 years, the Bluesfest festival came to a close, signifying the end of one of Australia’s longest-running musical events.

On Wednesday, the Byron Bay music festival declared that their four-day event commencing on April 17, 2025, would mark their ‘grand finale’ or ‘farewell performance’.

2025 marks the end of the run for Bluesfest Byron Bay, Australia’s top-tier and most honored music festival, as organizers have announced this upcoming event will serve as their farewell performance.

Following a span of 35 years, the iconic organization known for showcasing the finest in Blues, Roots music, and more has announced that it will stage its final festival, having previously brought renowned global artists to Australia and nurturing local talents as well.

The final Bluesfest will take place from April 17 to 20 on Byron Events Farm.

Festival director Peter Noble OAM described Bluesfest as a cherished project born out of passion, a tribute to the community, music, and the indomitable spirit of its devoted fans.

Nevertheless, Mr. Noble, who’s led the festival since 1994 and boasts over half a century in the music industry, expressed his intention to ‘draw this phase to a close’.

Following the 2025 festival, with a heavy heart, it seems appropriate that we move on from this phase,” he stated.

Similar to numerous Australian festivals, Bluesfest has encountered various hurdles such as escalating costs, shifts in ticket purchasing patterns, temporary closures due to COVID-19 pandemic and severe weather conditions.

This year, Bluesfest joins other Australian music events such as Splendour in the Grass, Groovin the Moo, and ValleyWays that have been cancelled.
