Beyond the Spider-Verse star gives disappointing update on delayed sequel

Actor Jharrel Jerome, who plays a key role in “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” has provided an unsatisfactory report about the forthcoming sequel.

Initially planned for cinema release in March 2024, the animated movie has been removed from Sony’s schedule in July 2023 and hasn’t been given a new release date as of now.

According to Pavitr Prabhakar, also known as Spider-Man India, he mentioned to The Times of India in August 2024 that filming was set to begin within a few months. However, Jerome has since clarified that production has not begun as of yet.

He informed Decider that no, the filming hadn’t begun yet. Instead, they were still working through various details, but he was optimistic about the progress and outcomes.

In the epic finale of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” it was me, Jerome, voicing Miles G Morales – aka the Prowler on Earth-42. The film ended with Shameik Moore’s Miles Morales being whisked away to our realm, leaving him under my watch and at my mercy.

To share some fresh updates, it has been officially announced that Bob Persichetti, who was one of the directors for the initial Spider-Verse movie, and Justin K Thompson, who co-directed the sequel, will be taking charge as directors for the upcoming film titled Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Previously, it was reported that delays for the upcoming movie “Beyond the Spider-Verse” were due to issues occurring backstage. However, Chris Miller, one of its producers, has since dismissed these claims.

“Nothing has been scrapped. The reels are coming along nicely,” he said in response to reports.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse currently has no release date.
