Beyond Paradise star Sally Bretton rushed to hospital “in pain” while filming another hit BBC show

In the heat of an exciting gaming session, I found myself suddenly swapped with Sally Bretton from “Beyond Paradise.” Turns out, our real-life adventure took a detour during the live broadcast of “Not Going Out,” as I ended up being rushed to the hospital. Quite a twist, huh?

Lee Mack, a cast member along with Lucy in the BBC comedy, shared details on why production halted for the popular show. It turned out that Lucy needed to rush to the hospital for an appendix surgery.

In the process of shooting an episode, the humorist clarified that the event transpired when the pair attempted – unsuccessfully – to acquire passes for the Oasis reunification concert.

In an interview with The Mirror, Lee recounted, “During the filming of Oasis, Sally asked me something that stood out. She seemed to be in discomfort and said, ‘Do you know what it’s like to have appendicitis?’

Yesterday, I told her, ‘I’m not sure, but let me clarify, if you were suffering from appendicitis, you wouldn’t be here filming. Turns out, the following day, she underwent an appendectomy.

Or simply:
Yesterday, I explained to her that it didn’t seem like she had appendicitis because she was filming, and indeed, the next day she had her appendix removed.

Starting back in 2006, this show is now preparing to debut its 14th season. In contrast to earlier episodes, there will be a leap forward in time as Lucy and Lee decide to relocate to a new home, marking the beginning of a fresh chapter for them.

In the upcoming series, we’ll honor late actor Bobby Ball, who portrayed Lee’s father, by paying him a heartfelt tribute following his passing in 2020.

Lee commented: “We all deeply feel his absence. Much like myself, he didn’t come from a theatrical lineage – so on a bad day for me in the studio, he was 50 times more challenging.

The director might need to advise him to stop glancing at the audience each time he tells a joke.

Looking back on the show as it aired its 100th episode during its Season 13 Christmas special, Lee commented: “Sally and I can’t help but feel a little sentimental.

Our tenure on this show spans a considerable length, and throughout its history, various phases can be distinguished, particularly if you consider the diverse cast members who have joined and left over time.

On this coming Friday, 13th of June, you can catch the return of “Not Going Out” on BBC One at 9 PM. In case you want to refresh your memory, past episodes are already available on BBC iPlayer.
