Get ready, fans of Return to Paradise! It looks like Shipton Abbott’s best detective is headed your way, according to the latest episode of Beyond Paradise. The hints were pretty clear, so it’s hard to imagine we’ve misinterpreted anything!
Zoe (Melina Sinadinou) was feeling stuck last week, but she decided to follow Martha’s (Sally Bretton) advice. Martha had encouraged her to be adventurous and take chances, unaware that this would inspire Zoe to start planning a trip around the world.
Now inspired and eager to travel, the 18-year-old wants to follow her boss’s example, and her first stop will be Dolphin Cove. Fans of the Paraverse, especially those who also watch the Australian spin-off featuring DI Mackenzie Clarke (Anna Samson), will recognize Dolphin Cove as the setting for Return to Paradise.
Seems too good to be true, right? Especially with the exciting news that Return to Paradise is coming back for a third season…

A major clue emerged when Zoe, lost in her phone, accidentally bumped into Kelby. PC Kelby quickly noticed she had recently been looking at pictures of Dolphin Cove online, sparking a connection.
He playfully hinted at her attractiveness, saying it looked like paradise, and then asked if she was going on vacation.
What to Read Next
“I’m considering doing some traveling, seeing more of the world,” Zoe said. He told her she was brave for considering it.
You know, listening to Zoe, it really hit me – that’s what life is all about! It’s about trying new things and not being afraid to take a chance. She just said it so confidently, it made me think!
Later, Zoe was back to researching Dolphin Cove, this time on her computer at home, but she quickly hid the screen when her mum, Esther, came near. Towards the end of the episode, she tried to share her exciting plans with her mother, but lost her nerve and couldn’t bring herself to tell her.
This really highlights how determined she is to leave, and these actions are just the first steps she’s taking to make that happen. She’s also focused on supporting her mother, encouraging her to be brave and try new things too.
As Esther herself would say, a neck massage isn’t exactly a daring act, but it does challenge her a little. She’ll need to become more comfortable with new experiences if she wants to cope with Zoe moving away.
Zoe might not be the only character planning a trip abroad. While it’s clear she’s likely going somewhere, Beyond Paradise also appears to be hinting at another character embarking on their own journey to a different location.
Kelby seemed a little wistful when she talked about leaving, which is understandable. Zoe isn’t the only one who’s been feeling dissatisfied recently.
Kelby confessed to his team that he desperately needed a real crime to investigate. He jokingly said he was at his wit’s end with minor disturbances, like kids doing wheelies or petty theft of custard creams, and was longing for a proper burglary to deal with.
He admitted he’d reached his limit after being called to break up a fight between teenagers at the train station, and that he was frustrated and wanted more challenging work.

He connected with Zoe when she mentioned she was likely to travel alone.
Kelby was really supportive, saying, “Good for you, just take care of yourself.” And honestly, with that amazing police officer sticking by my side, I knew I definitely would be. It was such a relief!
It’s easy to dismiss this idea as just a fan theory, but actor Ahmadi suggested something big was coming for Kelby before the show even aired.
When asked which character’s story arc she found most interesting this season besides her own, the actress who plays Esther told Digital Spy, “Definitely Kelby… I don’t want to give anything away, but Kelby, absolutely. I think you’re really going to enjoy what happens with him.”

Ahamdi shared her enthusiasm for a potential crossover, saying she’s happy to keep discussing it. She jokingly added that she won’t tire of the question until she gets to film an episode of Return to Paradise in Australia.
Could Esther accompany Kelby on her trip overseas to ensure her daughter’s safety? Kelby is a capable police officer and an adult, but Zoe will always be her child, and a mother’s protective instincts come first.
This would be a first: no one from Beyond Paradise has ever reached Return to Paradise before.
It seems like Beyond Paradise has presented a lot of hints that are likely to become important, so we’re eager to see how the story develops. Let’s wait and find out what happens next!
Beyond Paradise, Death in Paradise and Return to Paradise air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
