Beyond Paradise is back! BBC’s beloved murder mystery confirms return date of “thrilling” new season

Beyond Paradise season three is set to launch later this month.

The popular BBC series featuring Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton as detectives Humphrey Goodman and Martha Lloyd is set to make a comeback on your TV screens this coming Friday, the 28th of March.

The official release date was announced together with a fresh promotional video, hinting at upcoming adoption challenges for the pair as they tackle recent murder mysteries.

Season three’s summary hints at a captivating comeback for the fresh series filled with intrigue, laughter, and emotion. It goes on to say: “We join DI Humphrey Goodman and his colleagues as they delve into even more perplexing enigmas, amidst the stunning backdrops of Devon and Cornwall.

Moreover, their tale of parenthood broadens, encompassing the arrival of foster kid, Rosie, a spirited 9-year-old who presents them with hurdles they didn’t foresee.

In the third season, there are hints of turmoil for Esther (Zahra Ahmadi) as her personal life pushes her beyond her usual boundaries. However, will she embrace the novelty and manage to handle it becoming a matter of public scrutiny?

In the upcoming spin-off of Death in Paradise, Jamie Bamber will reprise his role as Martha’s former partner, Archie, who was absent during season two.

Prior to the premiere of Season 3, the cast will come together for a Red Nose Day special in a combined sketch. This unique event will merge the realms of “Beyond Paradise” and Lee Mack’s “Not Going Out.

As Bretton, I’ll be dancing between my roles as Martha from Beyond Paradise and Lucy in Not Going Out during this upcoming sketch. The fun part? A hilarious case of mixed-up identities unfolds when these two characters unexpectedly intersect!

While discussing her work on the Red Nose Day special, Bretton remarked: “It was delightful to see the fusion of both realms, portray my own twin, and become part of the chaos that usually ensues. The craziness was infectious!

“It was particularly special to be doing it all for such a brilliant cause as Comic Relief.

In a rapid-fire pace, it was hard to follow the action in that sketch; it seemed like we were both entering and leaving the scene at once. I can’t fathom how Lee Mack manages to keep track of everything happening so quickly in his performance.

“We all had a great day filled with fun, confusion and belly laughs.”

Beyond Paradise and Death in Paradise both air on BBC One and stream on BBC iPlayer.
