As a lifestyle expert with years of experience in music and entertainment, I wholeheartedly support artists having control over how their work is used, especially during political campaigns. It’s essential for the integrity of both art and democracy that artists are not exploited for political gain without their consent.

Beyoncé is planning to issue a legal warning, known as a cease-and-desist order, to the political campaign of ex-President Donald Trump for employing her 2016 hit song “Freedom” in a social media video.

A source with connections to Beyoncé, aged 42, shared with Rolling Stone magazine that the potential lawsuit was triggered following the use of her song “Crazy in Love” by Trump’s team in a video uploaded onto the social media account of their representative, Steven Cheung, on Tuesday.

On Wednesday afternoon, it seemed that a tweet, no longer visible, contained the message ‘Touchdown in Michigan!!’ accompanied by the account ‘@realDonaldTrump’, suggesting that the ex-president had disembarked from an aircraft.

The tune that initially appeared on Beyoncé’s 2016 album is referred to as an “unofficial campaign song” for Kamala Harris by a media outlet, and it has been utilized in her promotional materials for several weeks, following approval from the acclaimed artist herself.

A source close to the musician from Houston reportedly informed an outlet that Trump’s team did not receive authorization to utilize the song.

At a certain point during the recent Democratic National Convention in Chicago, which started this week, freedom was highlighted while Academy Award-nominated actor Jeffrey Wright provided the narrative alongside the music.

In the advertisement, Wright expressed, “What sort of America are we striving for? Not one filled with division, anger, and despair, right? Come on! We’re Americans! We defeated fascism. We walked on the moon. We’re shaping the future. Freedom? There isn’t anyone who cherishes it more than us.”

At various points during his campaign, Harris, the Democratic nominee for president, has chosen to play a song (with Kendrick Lamar) at numerous rallies.

Trump has previously faced criticism from artists, as some of their work was used during his rallies without obtaining the necessary permissions from the creators first.

The list also features artists like Celine Dion and Phil Collins, along with the legacies of deceased musicians such as Sinead O’Connor, Isaac Hayes, and Tom Petty.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I can’t speak for Beyoncé directly, but from observing her past actions, it’s clear that she’s leaned towards Democratic candidates in elections. However, at this moment, she hasn’t made any public statements about who she might be endorsing in the current race.

She performed at ex-President Barack Obama’s 2013 inauguration and in 2020 took to social media to support President Joe Biden.

Earlier this month, an insider told Dailymail.com that ‘Beyoncé has cleared her schedule to attend a Kamala Harris fundraiser,’ as she ‘decided to step back in after people close to her showed her’ Trump’s Project 2025 plans.

Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother at the age of 70, has been outspoken in her backing of Kamala Harris during her election run.

Last month, Knowles lauded Biden on Instagram for sacrificing his personal ambition, power, and public image by withdrawing from the presidential race in July. He believed this decision was advantageous for the nation and considered Biden a true exemplar of great leadership due to this selfless act.

1. She commended Harris for her fresh, vibrant, and keen energy, further expressing, “Onward, Vice President Kamala Harris for President! Forward to 2024! #kamala2024.”

Dailymail.com has reached out to reps for Beyoncé for comment on the story.
