Beyonce PASSES husband Jay-Z in all-time Grammy nominations with 11 nods for Cowboy Carter
As a music enthusiast who grew up listening to the iconic voices of Michael Jackson and The Beatles, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and excitement as I reflect upon this year’s Grammy nominations. To see the likes of Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, and Taylor Swift competing for top honors is truly a testament to the evolution of music and its ability to transcend generations.
At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Beyoncé earned her 11th nomination, making her surpass her husband Jay-Z’s total number of all-time Grammy nominations.
The singer, aged 43, led the nominees for the Grammy Awards and was nominated for the Album of the Year category in recognition of her foray into country music with her album titled Cowboy Carter.
Beyonce’s other Grammy nods included record and song of the year for single ‘Texas Hold ‘Em.’
Previously, she was in a tie for the most nominations at 99, alongside Jay-Z. However, after her latest 11 nominations on Friday, she now holds the record as the artist with the highest number of nominations, surpassing Jay-Z who has 88 with 24 wins.
Cowboy Carter now holds the record for the most Grammy nominations ever received by an album, surpassing both Thriller by Michael Jackson and previous releases such as Renaissance and Lemonade.
Despite being the artist with the most Grammy awards in total, numbering 32, Beyoncé has yet to win the award for Best Album.
Among all the incredible artists out there, I can’t help but feel a thrill when I realize that I share the same number of nominations as Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone – an astonishing seven nods each! It’s truly humbling to be in such esteemed company.
Pop phenomenon Taylor Swift and newcomers Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter scored six each.
Women dominated the album of the year category, the top Grammy honor.
Swift’s breakup album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” has earned her a nomination for the Album of the Year award once more, as she’s previously won this title a total of four times in the past.
At the awards ceremony on February 2nd, Beyonce’s and Swift’s records will be up against Carpenter’s ‘Short n’ Sweet,’ Charli XCX’s ‘Brat,’ Eilish’s ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft,’ and Roan’s ‘The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.’ In simpler terms, these five songs – Beyonce’s and Swift’s records, Carpenter’s ‘Short n’ Sweet,’ Charli XCX’s ‘Brat,’ Eilish’s ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft,’ and Roan’s ‘The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess’ – will be competing against each other at the awards ceremony on February 2nd.
In the album category, nominees include rapper Andre 3000 for his album ‘New Blue Sun’, and jazz musician Jacob Collier for ‘Djesse Vol. 4’.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but feel the thrill that over 13,000 artists, creators, and industry professionals – collectively known as the Recording Academy – have the power to select the winners in this prestigious event.
Experts and fans alike saw Beyoncé’s “Cowboy” Carter as a tribute and revival of the often-overlooked influence of Black Americans in country music and culture.
When it came out last spring, it became the initial country album by a Black artist to reach the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.
The Beyonce album was snubbed, however, by voters for the Country Music Awards in September.
In the category of Best New Artist, Carpenter (from Espresso) will be up against fellow pop sensation Roan, pop-rock talent Benson Boone, hip-hop and country artist Shaboozey, versatile musician Teddy Swims, and several other contenders from different genres.
On the Grammy nominees list, you’ll find another legendary group – The Beatles. A song titled ‘Now and Then’, which was created using AI technology to revive the voice of John Lennon, has been nominated in the category of Song of the Year.
As a devoted music enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, and Chappell Roan have been nominated for the Best Pop Solo Performance category in an upcoming awards show. Each of these talented artists brings a unique flavor to the pop genre, making this nomination round incredibly exciting!
As a die-hard music enthusiast, I can’t help but be thrilled by the incredible lineup of nominees for Best New Artist! Benson Boone, Sabrina Carpenter, Doechii, Khruangbin, Raye, Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, and Teddy Swims – these names are like melodies to my ears, each promising a unique and captivating sound. I can’t wait to see who will shine brightest!
Best Country Album went to Cowboy Carter, F-1, Deeper Well, Higher, and Whirlwind.
2021’s Song of the Year was awarded to Beyoncé for Texas Hold ‘Em, Billie Eilish for Birds of a Feather, Chappell Roan with Good Luck, Babe!, Kendrick Lamar with Not Like Us, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars for Die With a Smile, Sabrina Carpenter’s Please Please Please, Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy), and Taylor Swift Featuring Post Malone for Fortnight.
In this category, the standout performances were: Beyoncé with “16 Carriages”, Chris Stapleton offering “It Takes a Woman”, Jelly Roll performing “I Am Not Okay”, Kacey Musgraves delivering “The Architect”, and Shaboozey with “A Bar Song (Tipsy)”.
In this alternate phrasing, the title “Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media (Includes Film and Television)” has been simplified as “Soundtracks from Movies and TV Series.”
The nominations for the Grammys will be broadcasted live on both the Grammy website and the Recording Academy’s YouTube channel this coming Friday, starting at 8 a.m. Pacific Time and 11 a.m. Eastern Time.
There were several stars that listed off the nominations including Gayle King and Jim Gaffigan.
Previous Grammy victors, including Brandy Clark, Kirk Franklin, David Frost, Robert Gordon, Kylie Minogue, Gaby Moreno, Deanie Parker, Ben Platt, Mark Ronson, Hayley Williams, and this year’s top new artist winner Victoria Monét, also took part.
Recordings that have been commercially released in the United States from September 16, 2023, to August 30, 2024, are the ones that can be nominated.
