As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that it’s officially me – yes, Beyoncé – who has earned her first Emmy Award! This special recognition came for my work as a costume designer on the Netflix spectacular, “Beyoncé Bowl.” The Television Academy announced this prestigious honor in the category of Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction, or Reality Programming.
I’m beyond proud to share this Emmy with fellow costumiers Shiona Turini, Erica Rice, Molly Peters, Chelsea Staebell, and head of workroom Timothy White. Together, we created magic, and it feels incredible to be recognized for our collective efforts!
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my awe over the extraordinary spectacle that went by the name of the “Beyoncé Bowl,” broadcasted as a NFL halftime show special on Christmas Day, exclusively on Netflix. This event marked the live unveiling of songs from her magnificent album, “Cowboy Carter,” and was nothing short of breathtaking. The performance was a visual feast, with Beyoncé donning mesmerizing Western-inspired attire and intricate designs that echoed the richness of Black Southern and rodeo culture. It’s truly a celebration when Beyoncé’s Emmy win is shared with her brilliant costume design team.
Reaching this victory signifies a significant step towards EGOT achievement for the 35-time Grammy winner, since it places her halfway to this prestigious status. This is her first Emmy triumph following over a decade of nominations throughout her career. The program has additionally secured two other nominations for ‘Best Variety Special’ and ‘Outstanding Directing’, with her competing against her husband, JAY-Z in these categories. The Creative Arts Emmys, where these awards will be presented, are scheduled for September.
