Beyonce concert leads to chaos with post-show STAMPEDE that injures 11 as the outrageous cause is revealed

Fans of Beyoncé, following her concert in Georgia this week, faced chaos and numerous injuries when a rush occurred at a nearby train station, causing a stampede.

On the early morning of July 15, attendees of Beyoncé’s last Cowboy Carter concert at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium were exiting when an unexpected traffic accident occurred near the Vine City MARTA Station, as reported by Fox 5 Atlanta.

The incident that took place on an escalator leading to the underground station, apparently caused eleven individuals to sustain injuries during a rush or panic.

DailyMail.com has reached out to MARTA officials for comment but hasn’t yet received a response.

On the evening of Tuesday, July 15th, eleven individuals who had attended Beyoncé’s concert at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta sustained injuries while using an escalator at the Vine City Station around midnight. This information was shared by Stephany Fisher, MARTA’s senior director of communications, with DailyMail.com on Friday.

She went on to explain that one individual had a broken ankle, while seven others were taken to the hospital due to cuts and abrasions. However, one person chose not to be transported. Additionally, two individuals asked for medical help once they arrived at their respective destinations.

Fisher additionally shared details provided by MARTA police officials, indicating that the chaos originated when someone started shouting and rushing, leading to a panic on the escalator which made it momentarily accelerate before abruptly halting.

She pointed out that the escalator is now roped off to prevent any more accidents or injuries among passengers.

Fisher mentioned that MARTA and Schindler, the manufacturer responsible for constructing the escalator, are looking into why it stopped functioning properly.

In the statement, Schindler expressed compassion towards the injured passengers, stating that at present, they don’t have any confirmed details regarding the cause of the incident. It would be improper to make unfounded assumptions about what happened.

11Alive’s local report states that MARTA Police Chief Scott Kreher and Interim CEO Rhonda Allen shared their insights on the apparent reason behind the hazardous disturbance.

At the gathering’s video recording, Kreher stated that a young girl of 10 years old allegedly started shouting upon spotting what appeared to be either a cockroach or a palmetto bug.

Allen remarked, ‘A person started shouting near the train station. The noise surprised her because there was a bug outside among the large group of people.’

Transit users inside the station were even more alarmed by the screams, as there was already a large crowd waiting on an overcrowded escalator at that moment.

At a recent gathering, I described a scene where several individuals, eager and ready, started stepping onto an escalator, repeating, “Let’s go down, let’s go down.” This was shared during our board meeting.

As a devoted observer, I noticed that the swift actions of the individuals on the escalator, along with the substantial burden placed upon the machine, initially accelerated its pace. However, ultimately, it abruptly halted to a standstill.

In a brief video shared online, it seems like the escalator is full of individuals who quickly boarded due to the hustle and bustle.

It appears to briefly speed up then sudden stop as some people are seen falling forward.

The sudden jerk tossed passengers onto the ground and reportedly led to many of the injuries.

Other video showed passengers trying to help others off the ground.

In the heat of the moment during that chaotic event, my eyes couldn’t help but lock onto a horrifying sight – a fellow fan’s leg, deeply gashed and bleeding profusely, as if the stampede had left its own signature of terror.

Allen asserted that the escalator had undergone an inspection only a few days prior to the incident, implying it was functioning properly at that moment.

11Alive reported that the escalator’s inspection certificate indicated it would expire in August.

In an interview with People on Friday, Schindler stated that an examination conducted on the faulty escalator took place on the morning of July 15th. The inspectors concluded that there were no signs suggesting any equipment failure.

It seems that the escalator became overburdened, surpassing its designed limit, which resulted in a temporary speed increase followed by the activation of the safety brakes, as part of the escalator’s complex, code-compliant safety mechanism.

Before the unfortunate event, I must stress, our beloved escalator had gone through its routine monthly maintenance on July 10th. In fact, it was barely a week before the incident. At that time, it passed all checks and was performing flawlessly, just as it should. My heart goes out to those who were hurt, and I want you to know we’re here, offering technical assistance every step of the way. We’ll stand by them in any further investigations.

To minimize the occurrence of similar incidents in the future, Allen proposed a strategy to the board that involves increased vigilance and staffing by transit personnel during significant events such as Beyoncé’s concert.

She mentioned that having additional staff members would enable them to efficiently manage the passengers and maintain the rule that only the permitted number of individuals use the escalator simultaneously.

According to 11Alive, MARTA affirmed that officers from their police department were on duty at the station during the incident when the crowd surged (stampede).

On July 14th, I had the privilege of attending the fourth and concluding performance of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter series in Atlanta, a run that kicked off on July 10th.

She will next be performing a two-night run in Las Vegas on July 25 and 26.
