Beyoncé and LaTavia’s Emotional Reunion: What She Said After 23 Years Apart!
After 23 years since their bitter separation, Beyoncé’s long-time friend from childhood and Destiny’s Child bandmate have reunited face-to-face for the first time.
According to LaTavia Roberson, reconciling with the singer from Cowboy Carter after their recent show in Houston, Texas, was like finding justice for her spirit.
During a private conversation, a woman named LaTavia, aged 43 and mother of two, expressed that it was an incredible experience since they hadn’t shared the same space for quite some time.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I found myself united in a heartfelt moment with others, sharing genuine embraces and vibrant energy. In a poignant instance, Beyoncé leaned into my embrace, confessing her exhaustion: “LaTavia,” she whispered, “I’m so drained.
She was incredibly tired after performing on stage, and I exclaimed, “Wow, lady, how do you manage to pull this off every single night?” However, the affection in the crowd was palpable, and each hug felt genuine.
In Houston, 1990, LaTavia and Beyoncé, a mother of two, forged a seemingly indestructible connection as they both tried out for a girl group together.

Together with Kelly Rowland and LeToya Luckett, they established the group Girls Tyme, which was overseen by Beyoncé’s father.
Matthew Knowles left his position as a medical equipment salesman to help them achieve stardom by conducting rigorous training sessions, often held at his own home.
In 1997, the quartet secured a record deal with Columbia Records, at which time they had already rebranded themselves as Destiny’s Child.
For a decade, Roberson considered Beyoncé as his closest confidante. She was the person he felt comfortable opening up to and with whom he shared all aspects of his life.
As a teenager, my friend and I shared countless memories that were deeply etched into our hearts. A time came when I feared we might lose touch forever. Reuniting with her was like healing a long-held wound in my soul – it was a profound sense of justice.
‘She and I shared a deep connection, and I dearly miss her. It’s not merely because she is famous as Beyoncé, but because she is the very same Beyoncé Giselle Knowles I initially knew when we both tried out for the band together.’

According to Roberson, despite leading significantly distinct lives, Beyoncé (age 43) and she share a number of similarities. Both being mothers and having experienced personal growth are among these commonalities.
She also shared that Beyoncé and I continue to share a unique bond. It was truly heartwarming for me to experience that precious time together.
As I was about to depart, Jay Z gave me a warm embrace and remarked, “Don’t you know she adores you deeply?” To which I responded, “I feel the same way, and that affection will never change.
Back in the ’90s, powerhouse girl groups Destiny’s Child and TLC teamed up for a tour together. Their collaborative efforts didn’t stop there; Destiny’s Child’s second album, “The Writing’s On the Wall,” managed to secure the number two spot on the American R&B charts.
As the title suggested, it turned out to be true that LeToya and LaTavia had to leave Destiny’s Child in 2000 due to disagreements with manager Knowles. They were subsequently replaced by Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin.
In her recently published memoir titled “Matriarch,” Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, discusses the aftermath: “Beyoncé viewed it as the conclusion of a 10-year marriage, and she mourned it accordingly. ‘A sense of sadness enveloped our home,’ Tina penned.
Previously, LaTavia was among those who filed a lawsuit against Knowles and Destiny’s Child, an action that took place prior to their settlement in 2002. Today, LaTavia refutes claims that she voluntarily left the group.
‘Who in their right mind would leave Destiny’s Child?’ she asked.
In simpler terms, ‘Our group was among the most popular and successful all-female acts around. However, I was removed from the group, but I’ve never officially left.’

At the age of 16, my sole responsibility was to practice and perform on stage, however, we picked up on some issues and understood that we weren’t being compensated fairly for our work.
‘How were we on tour with TLC and making just $1,000 a week doing five or six shows a week?
Moreover, Beyoncé wasn’t afraid to express her thoughts directly to her father, while we found ourselves unable to voice ours. In retrospect, he was her father, and though it was challenging at times, I stood by her side in all that she shared.
‘And I’ve maintained my truth. My issue was always with management, it was never with the girls.’
Tina Knowles alleges that her former spouse frequently strayed from their relationship throughout their 30-year union, with the first instance of infidelity occurring while their daughter Beyoncé was still young. (This version attempts to convey the same idea in simpler and more conversational language.)
In my expertise on all things lifestyle, allow me to share an event from 2011 that left quite an impact. You see, I was privy to the separation of Tina and Knowles – a split that occurred when I uncovered a surprising truth: Knowles had fathered a child outside of their marriage with businesswoman Alexsandra Wright. Quite a revelation, wasn’t it?
Tina, a mother of two, hid the fact that she rekindled a relationship with someone in her memoir. She kept this ‘romantic entanglement’ hidden from her critical daughters, and it wasn’t until much later that she decided to end things permanently with him.

Latvia, who had her mother, Cheryl Mitchell, serve as a chaperone during their girl band days, now seems prepared to discuss that chapter in their lives openly.
‘Miss Tina was like a second mother to me and I’m so happy for her to find this peace,’ she said.
‘She ran a hair salon back then and she showed me how to be a strong, black woman.
However, it was clear to me that there were secrets being kept. My ears were always attuned, and my mother and Miss Tina often discussed many topics, so I picked up on quite a bit of information.
As a child, I didn’t feel it was appropriate for me to discuss the matter, but I’ve always harbored a profound empathy towards the struggles Mamma Tina faced.
‘I would hear things like, ‘Why was this woman answering the phone, Mathew?’
LaTavia expressed that her role might have placed her mother in a challenging position, and her position as chaperone could potentially be at risk.
She mentioned that there have been instances when Mr. Knowles wasn’t present, and it was our turn to perform on stage.

I believe it had an impact on his daughters, and I am certain she observed more due to her being part of that family.
As children, we didn’t discuss topics like infidelity. It’s hard to say what Beyoncé and Solange might have witnessed or experienced during their parents’ marriage, but it’s safe to assume they were exposed to a lot.
In her own words, LaTavia acknowledged that her feelings of isolation following her departure from Destiny’s Child triggered an issue with alcohol abuse and a DUI incident. However, with the arrival of her firstborn in 2013, she managed to regain control over her life and turn things around.
On the same evening she crossed paths with Knowles in Beyoncé’s backstage area during her September 2023 performance at Houston’s NRG Stadium, a woman residing full-time in Kennesaw, Georgia, accepted an invitation for dinner with him.
Previously close companions were captured in pictures alongside Destiny’s Child members Kelly and Michelle, along with LeToya. This marked the first occasion in nearly twenty years that they had all been in the same space at one time.
However, she disclosed that her effort to reconcile with Mathew Knowles didn’t turn out as hoped.
LaTavia stated that Beyoncé arranged the gathering, yet later, Beyoncé’s dad invited her and LaToya for dinner following the meeting, mentioning he wished to present them with an award.
She stated, ‘Initially, I consented because he seemed like a father figure to me when I was young. It was wonderful at the start, but later on, he began acting differently, more like someone named Matthew.’
In our conversation, I attempted to discuss particular topics, but he seemed to steer the discussion away. As a result, my self-assurance was dampened.

LaTavia asserted that he had said some intriguing things regarding her mom, who bravely fought and survived breast cancer.
At that moment, she expressed, “I had reached my limit, for it was my mother who valiantly stood guard while you were away, and the actions you took towards Miss Tina didn’t sit well with me.
As a die-hard admirer, let me recount a conversation that left quite an impression. When LeToya mentioned, “You were like a father figure for us,” I couldn’t help but respond, “I never aspired to fill the role of a father figure for you.
I expressed, ‘What is it that I’m doing here? You come across as arrogant. I’m not someone you can manipulate like a child; I’m choosing to leave.’
LeToya told me, “Stay here,” to which I responded, “I won’t stick around to put up with this.” After leaving, he asked if I wouldn’t at least open his present.
However, my visit wasn’t about receiving a plaque, and Matthew should understand that treating others unfairly doesn’t go unnoticed; karma has a way of catching up, as it often does.
