Most people saw the “Wagatha Christie” case as a dispute between just two people: Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy.
For over two years, the two parties were locked in a bitter dispute that culminated in a highly publicized court case. Ultimately, Coleen prevailed in the legal battle, and the story remained a major news item until the case concluded.
However, I can share that there’s another WAG who’s stayed out of the public eye, unlike Coleen and Rebekah. This is Lisa Carrick, married to former England and Manchester United player Michael Carrick.
According to a friend, Lisa supported Coleen throughout the highly publicized legal battle with Rebekah.
As many will recall, Rebekah took legal action against Coleen for libel after Coleen publicly accused her of sharing private information with the media through Instagram. Ultimately, Coleen won the case and was awarded damages, along with nearly £1.2 million to cover her legal fees.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this story closely, and I’m hearing that Coleen really leaned on Lisa, who’s 44, during the toughest parts of everything she was going through. It sounds like Lisa was her rock when things got really difficult.
According to a friend, Coleen often felt completely overwhelmed during the aftermath of the situation. She was incredibly stressed and found it hard to manage. While some questioned whether she had handled the Rebekah reveal on social media correctly, Lisa consistently offered her support.
Lisa was a true friend and a constant source of support. Their close bond was incredibly special, and Lisa quietly played a huge role in helping her succeed – a hidden force that made all the difference.
I’ve always been so impressed by Lisa and how she was there for Coleen during that incredibly difficult time. She really went above and beyond – always running errands, like getting Coleen a cup of tea, or just being a shoulder to cry on whenever Coleen needed to vent. She was the absolute best friend anyone could ask for. And honestly, Lisa is a strong woman, she doesn’t let people walk all over her, and I think she helped Coleen find that strength within herself too.

Lisa’s perseverance and dedication are paying off again, as her husband, Michael, has been appointed as the interim coach of Manchester United. This is a lifelong dream for him, as he previously played for the team for twelve years, starting in 2006 after transferring from Tottenham Hotspur.
While playing for the club, he shared the field with stars like Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, and Cristiano Ronaldo. He and Wayne Rooney became good friends, and their partners also developed a close relationship.
Michael faces a difficult task taking over as manager, following in the footsteps of both his predecessor, Darren Fletcher, and the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, who managed Manchester United for many years. He steps into the role after the club dismissed Ruben Amorim earlier this month, with Fletcher having temporarily filled the position.
Lisa, a mother of two daughters named Louise and Jacey, is preparing for a major new role – she’s about to become the First Lady of Old Trafford.
As the saying goes, every successful man has a supportive woman helping him along the way, and in this case, that woman is Lisa, according to my source.
Lisa knows Michael very well – they’ve been together since they were 15, having met at school in Wallsend, a town known for its mining history in Tyne and Wear. Even as Michael’s football career took off with West Ham United in 1999, Lisa remained a constant and supportive partner.
According to a friend, Lisa was committed to her Pilates practice and financially independent. She didn’t want to rely on her partner for support.
Lisa preferred to avoid public attention throughout Michael’s career, but in 2006, while known as Lisa Roughead, she gained media coverage as part of the group of wives and girlfriends (Wags) accompanying players to the World Cup in Germany. She was photographed shopping and socializing with Coleen, Victoria Beckham, Cheryl Cole, and Elen Rivas in Baden-Baden, a small town in southwestern Germany – scenes that became widely known and discussed.

A year after they first met, she and Michael got married at St Peter’s Church in Wymondham, Leicestershire. Among the guests were Michael’s Tottenham teammate Robbie Keane and his wife, Claudine. Interestingly, their wedding day coincided with the weddings of other famous footballers – Steven Gerrard and Alex, and Gary Neville and Emma.
In 2014, Lisa found herself in the public eye once more after publicly criticizing Roy Keane on Twitter. This followed Keane’s comments about an interview given by her husband, which he compared unfavorably to Manchester United’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Olympiacos in the Champions League.
As a big fan, I have to agree with Keane – that interview just didn’t have any spark! It felt as lifeless as the performance itself. He really needs to show a little more energy and enthusiasm, even when he’s just talking about it. It felt so flat, he needs to inject some urgency into everything he does.
‘That just reflected United’s performance tonight – flat, with no urgency.’
Lisa responded to the situation by posting: ‘Roy Keane says anything just to get a rise out of people.’ However, after the post received a lot of attention online, reaching hundreds of thousands of users, she took it down.
Currently, Lisa’s main focus is working with the Michael Carrick Foundation, a charity her husband created to support young people from less fortunate backgrounds.
Last summer, she vacationed in Ibiza with Coleen and their husbands. The women were seen having fun in the water near the Beachouse Ibiza club, a popular spot on the island.
The couple frequently spends evenings at popular bars and restaurants in Cheshire. However, while Coleen is preparing to share her life in a new documentary on Disney+, Lisa strongly prefers to stay out of the public eye – she even keeps her Instagram account private.
A source revealed that Coleen and Lisa have a strong bond, forged over the many years their husbands played for both Manchester United and the England national team.
‘They navigated the fame thing, the Wag thing, becoming mums.’
It’s tough seeing Lisa go through this, but now I’m the one offering Coleen support. Her husband has just taken a job that everyone in football knows is incredibly difficult – it’s basically a guaranteed headache and a lot of pressure. It feels like the tables have turned, and I’m there for Coleen now.
