Beverly Hills, 90210 star Jennie Garth reveals how ‘really hard’ IVF procedures nearly destroyed her marriage to Dave Abrams
As someone who has followed Jennie Garth’s career and personal life for years, it’s inspiring to see her open up about such intimate aspects of her life. It takes courage to share one’s struggles, especially when it comes to fertility issues and health challenges, and Jennie’s candidness is a testament to her strength and resilience.
Jennie Garth has been especially open about her physical and mental health lately.
In a recent chat with Self magazine, I, as a proud alumna of Beverly Hills, 90210, am openly discussing the true cause that led to my temporary separation from my partner, Dave Abrams. This candid revelation offers an insightful glimpse into our lives.
She confessed to the media that they had been attempting to conceive a child, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out for them. This struggle was incredibly difficult for both of them personally as well as for their relationship.
2017 saw the separation of the couple, as Abrams initiated a divorce; however, by 2019, they reconciled, leading Abrams to withdraw the divorce filing.
Apart from deciding to cease attempts at conceiving, they acknowledged that this allowed them to express their affection for one another in a new and unique manner, as Jennie put it.
‘Dave is just an incredibly supportive, loving person,’ she said.
He continually considers ways to bring joy to me and improve our days together. I am deeply appreciative of his selfless kindness and affection.
Jennie has three daughters – Luca (aged 26), Lola (aged 21), and Fiona (aged 17) – who she co-parents with her former husband, actor Peter Facinelli.
Jennie and Dave first met each other on a blind date back in 2015, and they became engaged just three months after their initial encounter. They ended up getting married towards the end of the same year.
Garth’s admission about the cost of her IVF procedures wasn’t her only recent health revelation.
The actress recently shared that she had both her hips replaced, the first when she was 48 and the second earlier this year at age 52.
She confided, “For such a long time, I’ve hidden things, but now I feel ready to be open about it all.” She added that her podcast, titled ‘I Choose Me’, had played a significant role in helping her reach this point of honesty.
For such a prolonged period, she’d grown accustomed to her hip discomfort, making it feel like part of her routine. However, the situation escalated to the point where she found it challenging to walk comfortably.
The doctor explained that her hip wasn’t sitting properly in its socket, causing damage to the tissue nearby, and suggested a hip replacement surgery as the appropriate treatment for this issue.
Garth pointed out that her spouse, Dave, is 9 years younger than herself, and she playfully remarked, “My husband’s fitness level is impressive. I wasn’t keen on marrying someone younger and seeing myself deteriorate.
She went on to share: ‘I had wished during my journey of the first surgery that I could share my experience with people because there’s such a stigma around getting any of your joints replaced. This is something that doesn’t just affect 80-year-olds.’
Jennie has recently shared insights into how perimenopause is impacting her daily life and exercise routine, expressing that sometimes she feels as though her body is in opposition to her.
On her “I Choose Me” podcast, Garth elaborated further, describing the hormonal changes as a colossal storm system that sweeps into your existence, causing widespread damage in various ways.
She acknowledged that the modifications happening within her body implied, “of course, my feelings and abilities won’t always align with what I’d prefer or anticipate.
Garth reminded herself, “I need to show myself some understanding. I’m giving it my all, and that helps ease my mind a bit.
