Renowned author Kathy Lette hints at a potential collaboration between popular comedian Sally Phillips, famously known from ‘Taskmaster‘, and her actor son Jules Robertson, who gained fame on ‘Holby City’.
In an episode of the “Suddenly Single” podcast, the author shared insights about their son, a notable actor who portrayed Jason Haynes on “Holby City” from 2016 to 2022.
Discussing Robertson, Lette shared with host Siobhan Wykes that she didn’t pen down his autism diagnosis until her son grew up, expressing that the most challenging piece she ever penned was dealing with having an autistic child.
She added: “I didn’t discuss Jules’ autism until he turned 21, but writing about it and its impact on our relationship was incredibly liberating.
According to Lette, he shared that Robertson consented for his mother to write about him. When she showed him what she was writing, he responded, “It’s always beneficial to shed light on hidden aspects, mom.
Disclosing her aspirations for the future, Lette shared that she intends to pen a project featuring Robertson, along with actress Phillips from “Bridget Jones” and her son, who has Down’s Syndrome, as co-stars.
Lette mentioned that she plans to create a role for her son, “We might collaborate on a project for our children,” she said, as her friend Sally Phillips also has a son with Down’s Syndrome. This way, our kids will have opportunities to act in it.
In another part of the conversation, the author explained her motivation for writing by suggesting that it serves as a less expensive alternative to therapy. If she weren’t an author, she joked that she would likely be found on a psychiatrist’s couch, shelling out money to amuse them instead.
She stated that if she possesses any talent as a writer, it lies in articulating the thoughts of women that they may not express aloud, and capturing the way women communicate among themselves when men are absent.
